Does the CWU have any power anymore?

cwu any good? any chance of a poll on here to find out if people have still got any belief in the union anymore.There are m/c's closing down all around the country,so what the hell are the cwu doing?Hours being cut everywhere,let's have some positive action from the cwu.I hope everyone understands the severity of r.m's latest actions.Don't think to yourselves it does not affect me,because it soon will you can be sure of that.Let's have something from our cwu leaders!

Personally, I think that we still have a lot of power, if we can stick together. But that it's being erroded by all these Local Agreements. What about you?

Does it mean the Leadership (who do seem to have really lost it) or the members (who are very dependant on their reps.).

What do you mean when you say the union still has power? They have NOT saved jobs, these past few years,
they HAVE allowed the wholesale slaughter of original contracts, and they seem to be allowing new one hour /ten hour
r contracts to be acceptable.I apologise to all the good reps who do try, but no apologies to the others,it is
not just workers who sit on the fence----(The top dogs at H.Q,seem to be Masters at this/lettting Royal Mail get away
with murder, and THEN deciding to do things)))
I remember whem prople used to criticise Keggie when he was in, but he did far more than this bunch.

Well it seems to be the general concensus on here at the moment. Personally, I think that the CWU's power is erroding, due to the Local Agreements. But if we were to get better organised, we could still wield a lot of power.

:cfo Again, if theUnions started to support US, as individuals and as a unit,they may get more support from the rank and file---surely their power lies in our hands, and if they started to fight on our behalf--instead of R.M.,which it seems they
have been doing for a few years.(And Be honest here--think back 7'8 years-since Billy boy and his side kick took office)
all the major changes have been in favour of R.M to the detriment of our original contracts--the sad thing is, in the not too distant future-once R.M. have, with the Unions blessing, got rid of the old staff,and contracts--things will go back to
earlier deliveries etc.only with patr time staff and miniscule wages, If the unions are serious about their support for us, let them DO something NOW.

if we stick together thats a laugh what about the time you all stuck together with the belfast rep when he had a late night visit to his home and was asking for help. stick together good 1 more like look after number 1.

When i asked this question i was of the feeling something major was going on.But with the leaked announcement this week,we will now find out how good the cwu are! And if they are ahead of the ball game,which they bloody well should be.If that's what we pay them for in their cushy little jobs,we all need strong leadership now,before RM run rings around us,again!

The power is within all that seeks a just and true cause for us one and all as never before has one and all seen such oppression in the workplace of this land since the 1980's and Maggie and her bunch of dog's which these two :lfo & :cfo were well versed in!. It comes as no surprise that the angel of death :mfo was revived at the onset of the recession and he will carry out his masters vision of servitude for the few and subjugation of the masses!. Wake up everyone and don't let them the few take us all for a ride for they have no vision no compassion and no answer to our strength through unity one and all is how we will defeat the corrupt and decadent of this land of ours!.

We had our big chance like you said linkin and they did blow it all because one man with no vision and no balls said i want THESE PEOPLE BACK TO WORK (ON REDUCED TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND NO JOB SECURITY NOR PENSION AND REDUNDENCY LET THEM EAT CAKE) Well union HQ did roll over and we got turned over by NEW LABOUR why on gods earth are we still paying these losers or does billy and dave still get the rewards for paying in our money while we get shat on from a great height!.
