Are all managers failed posties?
In my office and many more I imagine management is poor, if they cant do the job they were intended to do they take up a management course and just sit around all day drinking tea and coming up with ideas to keep you in the office longer doing nothing. What do you think? Dont think this goes against forum rules.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Re: Are all managers failed posties?
I'm finding that a lot of DOM's & Senior Managers have never been posties, therefore have no or very little knowledge of the job, hence why the job is so cr@p now. The majority of LM's are failed posties, the ones who cut corners or were basically cr@p at deliveries.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

cutting corners - like dumping ! , favoured sons though , these instuitions thrive on their own corruption .k66yla wrote:I'm finding that a lot of DOM's & Senior Managers have never been posties, therefore have no or very little knowledge of the job, hence why the job is so cr@p now. Re: Are all managers failed posties?
seen this in another service - we'd a lot of smart arse ex teachers , thick as two short ones or too clever by half , however they were " committed " , many of them should have been !tolkien wrote:we have currently got a new manager wandering round looking lost asked him if had ever been a postie he said that he was a graduate with us for a few months and had never done a post job so had no idea what we had to do out on the streets , this is the type of people that will be in charge of us in the brave new world of the royal mail, still not seen the DOM since we started summer lapsing he has vanished while the sh-t hits the fan,
personly ,cut off twice and book OT twice this week ,nearly always back on time before the lapsing this is before pegasus what the h-ll is going to happen next??

was then, not now.Sadly, some good posties take a Management course, come back to their original office, and after a few short weeks ,become one of 'them'!I particulary hate those bad posties who nobody liked in the first place, and when
they do a stint in 'the old place'either crawl round staff members in the hope of making friends----whilst trying to play the big guy with the rest of the staff.

from my experience of privatization , it's easier to fill their heads with rubbish , some of them are looking for the novel that makes sense if you likek979aaa wrote:If you look on royalmail's site they recruit post graduates and others who have NO EXPERIENCE IN MAIL DISTRIBUTION/SORTATION/OR/DELIVERY and this is the expertease of idiots :cfo and the world of spin :mfo!.
I can remember one ex - teacher making a fortune selling off the AM office antique furniture , he got £4000 for one item once , even had a van loaded up , he was rewarding himself , the items certainly were not sold off by the employer to collectors .
They promoted a good union rep up to neutralize him , unfortunately he had a problem with the fruit machines so he had to live in " the local big house " - I'd have loved to have shopped that c**t had I known and have him doing porridge with him & I wouldn't be the only one either ! .
The Area Director was a egomaniacal empire builder of the worst kind , they got better Senior management in and they got rid of him and all the yes men he surrounded himself with had to be paid up too , as they'd outlived their usefulness & had been found out - too many promotions , the Peter Principle taken to extremes .
All these managers welcoming TNT or whoever are like Turkeys voting for Christmas but noone will have any sympathy whatsoever , what goes around , comes around

Re: Are all managers failed posties?
There are some decent managers around , trouble is they are getting thin on the ground as the other LOT tend to bully them as well. Too many of them are sidelined by those higher up as having a "human" side to them / "not following the party line" how long do you think a manger will last that does not issue stage ones or pays out O/T for late delivery etc.
What happens in every mail centre when a new MCM comes in ??????????????????

Yes u are right the few semi decent managers are just moved sideways all the time. The numpties, that are just 'yes men' really seem to go up and up. Too many of em are frightened of losing the easy life and having to go back on the streets.
