Hi can anyone please let me know how I get a reference or a contact for a potential employer to get a reference?

Employee references: thirdpartyenquiries@royalmail.com
email them with your personal details and RM pay number, work location and role etc (they'll use it as confirmation) and then as far as I know they send you one.
Its a very basic reference though, date started, finished and reason for leaving - thats it.
If this works can you pop back here and advise members of what happened and add any corrections that you feel may help them.

I phoned hr and they to me to get the potential new employer to fax details over to the number on the back of my payslip or to write to them. can potential employers email that email address?

Ok Ive been offered a couple of jobs now one including the NHS want a reference contact. They want an actual persons name for a reference. Ive given them the email address as above but not sure they will accept it. The other role I have been offered a role with a company does the employment checks and I only put down HR's number and fax number on the pay slips. Its very stressful, even trying to get a reference off a large company
