Selling stamps

Looks like the majority of us received our stamps today. Just a shame to see so many put up on eBay.

not that im going to sell mine but .. are they not a gift thus now our property ? I dont recall seeing any stipulation about not being allowed to sell them

A couple of quid? How long since you last bought a stamp? They're a bit expensive nowadays and 50 are worth £31.

They do come in quite handy, though. I can send out all my cards, throw in a couple of gifts and still have plenty left over.

I believe there was a communication a few years back from the Royal Mail to the effect that if HMRC saw them being sold then they'd turn round to the Royal Mail and say the free stamps where a taxable benefit, and at that point the Royal Mail might stop giving them to us.

thats probably the reason the stopped giving us those seeds

i believe the staff stamps are or were collectable to stamp collectors for some reason. someone i know had a stamp collector on their round that used to buy them every year at 2 times there value.

Yes, that is still so. It's because the paper between the stamps has NOT been removed unlike all those sold in Post Offices and elsewhere.
Worth more but probably not twice the face value of £31.50.

Nothing wrong with us selling our unused stamps, especially when there are so many on ebay which have openly been used but not franked. The number of old people I see who think an unfranked stamp "hasn't been used, I can use that again" :-(

personally I give mine to local tradesmen ( my butcher, fishmonger, favourite place to eat) all small businesses that post mail regularly, as a thank you for their wonderful service that year - the stamps have cost me nothing and I don't really use them that much and they do post stuff regularly

They are appreciative and I may receive a little extra from them at xmas time so everyone is happy
