Thousands of Postmen and women to lose their jobs!

Post by Phantom »

Starting from tommorow 1000's of tempory contracts are to be terminated accross the country, if you've been with RM for under 2 years then you are out!

14 gone from my office out of about 80 staff, with 10 off each week on leave thats 24 members of staff down each week, we will not cope!

CUT OFF springs to mind! BEWARE folks the chop is coming and welcome to privatisation.
CUT OFF!!!

Im thinking the same because just last week I had a meeting with my manager and he said to me and another lad our jobs are safe and not to worry. Then went to show us when we have got our weeks off till March next year.

Good job I was given a Long Term contract after a year then :dance Still sucks though, more bullying from managers to do OT, but that won't work with me. I've transferred to a different office and they don't pay if you go over your time, they 'bank' the hours, which I refuse to do.

Welcome to the world of privatisation
So if this is true come Christmas they will hire a load more temps and the revolving door will start again :no no
What is the CWU doing about this? are they going to sit back and just watch it happen?

If it's happening nationwide then DOs and MCs up and down the country will probably start failing on a regular basis.

Are they getting axed or are they being shunted over to Angard?

This is a wind up surely...Where did you hear about this?

Why would they do this when there are walks not even going out because we've clearly not got ENOUGH staff to shift it all?

There is talk of the amount of postboxes to be halved across the UK,and managers in my region had a meeting this week regarding Amazon delivering all their own stuff and TNT delivering in our area within the next 18 months.

It may not be national yet,but a lot of senior managers are very shook up about the future for sure...
same as it ever was...

this is not a wind up , its happening in our do , all temps with less than 2 years have been given 2 weeks notice (6), and all the staff who was made up to f/t with p&l have been told they will be back to there original 31 hr contracts within the next 2 weeks (10) which they have done for 4+ years , the dom also told them that the regular f/t staff will have to mop there indoor work up , I don't think so we will be finishing at 2 as from tomorrow no more o/t , everybody needs to do the job properly its all the early starters , runners , not using the correct equipment that's caused this , come on cwu what are we going to do about this one ?

There was a very small article in the Sunday Mirror that these cuts are in South Yorkshire for PT Contracts and that 1600 managers had gone since last October.
It went on to say RM had begun talks with the union on new efficiencies
