On annual leave w/c 24 December
Im on leave the week starting xmas eve.
Was told today by my DOM that I have to come in and work on xmas eve.
Luckily i told him Im flying out of the country on the 23rd so its impossible for me to work, so I should be ok.
However he has said this to everyone on leave that week, and most of them have said yes they will come in, as they felt under pressure, and 'its only one day'.
Can he get away with this? Surely if you have booked a week off and its been accepted, you get the whole week off.
Thanks

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've got that week off, when I booked it I was told I would have to work xmas eve. They credit the day back.

we had a tombola for that week, anyone who wanted it (and were in credit) could put their name in the hat. the only condition was that they MUST work the 24th

In the past my office have held a raffle for not working xmas eve, everyone puts a pound in for a ticket. The winner then can take the day off and the duty is done by the DOM, the money raised goes to charity. Not sure if thats going to happen this year.

Re: On annual leave w/c 24 December
Christmas pressure is the 3 weeks prior to Christmas so if in a D/O it would be the 3/12/12 - 10/12/12 - 17/12/12 as far as I know I would ask your rep but if you are down for that week you must have made plans didn't you and thus cannot be there!.Hitcher wrote:I thought all leave was stopped over Christmas?
