Out of date passport for interview!

Post by golfnut67 »

Hi all,

I'm attending an interview for a Postman tomorrow and have just noticed my passport ran out in May this year :mad
Do you think that this will stop me actually getting the chance to proceed with the interview?

Any thoughts

Cheers

Have you got a photo driving licence and full birth certificate? If so there shouldn't be a problem. If not the interview will probably go ahead, but further down the line you will be asked for further proof of ID.

Can't see it being a problem , as it is only to prove you are who you say you are. Not as if the gaffer is going to take you away on holiday

Your passport is valid ID for up to 2 years after it expires. You'll be fine

An out of date passport should be ok, it only matters that you can actually get one, take it along with you anyway.

Please note that this is just my opinion and not an actual fact.

My passport was past expiry by over 5 years and it was still accepted as proof of my ID on my interview day - I'd phoned HR beforehand to check that it was going to be ok but I took all my other ID along as well, just in case.

Yeah, I got the job, been doing it since early summer. There's an awful lot of gloom and doom if you just read this site but it's not that dreadful in every office. I guess maybe I'm just lucky because, even though there's all the usual probs you get in any job like this (some idiotic/selfish colleagues, some rude/scary customers), this is still the most enjoyable job I've ever had. For me, the first 2 hours inside is a bit of a drag, but being out and about in the daylight for the next 5 hours or so more than makes up for it!

Yeah, I hear that's hard, but TBH most outdoor jobs are tough in the winter times. I'm more used to farming and agriculture previous to this job.
