Thieving agency scumbag has stolen my customers mail !

Post by krussel »

I had a days leave booked on sat so they (managers) decided to cover my round with 2 agency causal staff as they thought no one would be interested in working overtime that day.

This is what ive found out today. :evil/mad

They asked for 2 agency people to start at 8.30 but only one turned up. They got a rehab postie to prep my walk and the agency man also helped. Apparently he did not speak very good English but seemed pleasant enough and willing to get stuck into the prep. When it became clear that the 2nd guy was not coming he was not bothered and offered to take out the whole walk on his own. :d'oh!

The rehab postie said that he seemed very confident in bundling up and seemed to know what he was doing. He took all mails including at least half a dozen recorded packets but obviously no registered mail. :whistle The manager and the rehab then helped him load 6 pouches of mail into his car and then made sure he had a map and dockets etc.
At the last min a locker duty postie came running out and asked if we could take a re-delivery recorded packet, as it was on his first road, and had missed the driver. He seemed more than pleased to help and threw that also into his car.

Everyone seemed pleased and the manager buggered off home just before 10am. :no no

About 10 min before the counter was due to close an angry customer appears demanding to know where his re-delivery recorded packet is. It turns out that its an almost new Ipad which was being retuned from having a new screen fitted. The locker guy explains that it had been placed out for delivery much earlier in the day but the regular postie is off and the temp guy is a lot slower and prob doing the delivery in a different order. Anyway Mr Angry decides to return home to wait for it (it never shows up).

Nothing much is thought of this and everyone goes off for the rest of the bank holiday.

When I got in this morning I did notice 4 grey sacks of mail stacked outside the managers office but did not think too much about it. :hmmmm
However it turns out that sometime during sat night /sunday morning 3 post boxes about 30 miles from the office had been completely stuffed with letters from my delivery ! The collection driver immediately became suspicious and reported it whereupon the mail was bagged and sent to my manager via special delivery.

The bags were later cut and all the mail laid on the bench and it all appears to be un-molested, however as someone quickly pointed out its nearly all DSA so would not be stolen anyway as its valueless. No packets (a full packet bags worth) inc this Ipad have yet to turn up and must be assumed stolen along with god knows what else. :evil/mad

The mail was being photographed by the dom as I left for the start of my delivery and was in perstops in the managers office when I returned.

There is no way this guy was cleared to use his car...is there?

How many areas are still allowed to use agency staff?

Apart from that I think everyone has shown a lot of initiative.
Well done. :Applause :Applause

Its not our reg manager as she is still off sick after falling off her sons scooter

He did look very shocked and had to phone the area Som for advice

Some of the guys thought the whole thing quite funny in a “serves them right” kind of way. But iam really bloody annoyed about the whole thing as its me on the front line who will have to face these people when they realise thier mail is not going to turn up.

I've been there krussel...although the guy that screwed my customers didn't have the decency to stick the stuff he didn't want into the post box.
He took it into a field and tried to burn it.
He couldn't even manage to do that properly so i got to deliver the charred remains.
Thousand yard stares from my customers for weeks....i could have killed the fat pr*ck.

Thieving tw*t should have his fingers cut off and shoved up his arse.

Having said that, who in their right mind would send a £400 Ipad by recorded only? They'll have to foot the bill for a replacement now and the customer will get a new one. Make sure your customer knows that it's the senders responsibility to insure it properly as they'll probably try and fob him off. :nana

Every cloud has a silver lining though krussel, you could point out to the customers that is exactly the sort of service they can expect if the privatisation goes ahead and the dutch model is followed - it may well be worth getting them to complain, and complain and complain if you want to get rid of the DOM who really didn't follow procedure.

Well today was interesting. :hmmmm
Now that everyone has got over the shock of the theft the logistics of getting an extra days mail delivered arrived.

So when I got in this morning I had the usual 4 trays of mech mail on my frame and a further 7 trays of the stolen mail on the floor by the side of it.

I prepped the mech trays waiting for a manager to appear to discuss the rest but no one came. So I went to see him and asked what he intended to do about Saturdays mail. “Oh do you want to take it for a couple of hours “ was his reply. “no not really” was mine. :mad

Now this annoys me how RM managers seem to naturally think that a postie is going to sell his soul for a couple of hours overtime. Also I know from previous discussions with managers that agencies in my area charge £12 per hour for supplying labour. So on sat they were going to pay two casuals 5 hours a piece which is £120 to cover my delivery. They offered a pony 5 hrs overtime to the office on a bank holiday weekend and they wonder why no one took it. Now they think they can offer me just £20 to get rid of the problem and deliver an extra days letters and flats.

In the end I prepped all the work but only took out just over half the delivery and they ended up paying 3.5 hrs docket to clear the rest.

Ive already had one lady come out today saying she's expecting a parcel which should have arrived. I blamed the bank holiday, just hope that one turns up :pray
