This is what ive found out today.
They asked for 2 agency people to start at 8.30 but only one turned up. They got a rehab postie to prep my walk and the agency man also helped. Apparently he did not speak very good English but seemed pleasant enough and willing to get stuck into the prep. When it became clear that the 2nd guy was not coming he was not bothered and offered to take out the whole walk on his own.
The rehab postie said that he seemed very confident in bundling up and seemed to know what he was doing. He took all mails including at least half a dozen recorded packets but obviously no registered mail.
At the last min a locker duty postie came running out and asked if we could take a re-delivery recorded packet, as it was on his first road, and had missed the driver. He seemed more than pleased to help and threw that also into his car.
Everyone seemed pleased and the manager buggered off home just before 10am.
About 10 min before the counter was due to close an angry customer appears demanding to know where his re-delivery recorded packet is. It turns out that its an almost new Ipad which was being retuned from having a new screen fitted. The locker guy explains that it had been placed out for delivery much earlier in the day but the regular postie is off and the temp guy is a lot slower and prob doing the delivery in a different order. Anyway Mr Angry decides to return home to wait for it (it never shows up).
Nothing much is thought of this and everyone goes off for the rest of the bank holiday.
When I got in this morning I did notice 4 grey sacks of mail stacked outside the managers office but did not think too much about it.
However it turns out that sometime during sat night /sunday morning 3 post boxes about 30 miles from the office had been completely stuffed with letters from my delivery ! The collection driver immediately became suspicious and reported it whereupon the mail was bagged and sent to my manager via special delivery.
The bags were later cut and all the mail laid on the bench and it all appears to be un-molested, however as someone quickly pointed out its nearly all DSA so would not be stolen anyway as its valueless. No packets (a full packet bags worth) inc this Ipad have yet to turn up and must be assumed stolen along with god knows what else.
The mail was being photographed by the dom as I left for the start of my delivery and was in perstops in the managers office when I returned.
