100% SOLD OUT AND TAKEN FOR A MUG. PLEASE READ AND REPLY!!!!
Hello troops,
hope you are well?
I have read 'the agreement' and to be honest can't really make head nor tails of it. A lot of it does go over my head. However I have a few questions and comments to make on what I have observed. Hopefully some of the more intelligent and knowledge people on here can help me out.
Firstly, the CWU have agreed to call off the strikes until after Christmas, so they can 'talk' with Royal Mail. Is this REALLY a strong enough reason to call off the strikes? For more 'talks'? How do you explain to all the men and women that have lost considerable money, that their strike action has resulted in 'talks'. Some people have lost over £1500! For what? Absolutely nothing.
Now I know people are gonna reply and tell me we have an agreement where Royal Mail have to talk and listen to us. However IF they don't play ball we can use strike action again. Brilliant! Absolutely f**king brilliant! We were only just getting the public and businesses to support us with the current strikes. We were only just getting them to see it was Royal Mail that was the problem and not the workers. Now all the public and businesses hear is the strikes are over. That is all they read and hear and that is all they want to read and hear. They do not not give one flying f**k of the conditions that they are over or how long for. They know they are over and that is it. End off! If we had to strike again in the new year, do you really think we would have public support? I personally think we would have sweet f**k all support. If we were to strike in Janurary the public's frame of thinking would be 'those useless lazy gits got an agreement last month to stop striking, they was happy, now they striking again. Useless gits! Who do they think they are!?' The agreement as far as I can see is a joke and nothing more than a get out of jail card for Royal Mail. It has give them the breathing space they need to continue to do what they do best (divide and conquer, bully, ruin the service!) and get the public on side in the process. Well done Royal Mail. You have indeed played an absolute blinder. Take a bow.
I suppose it comes down to trusting Royal Mail and hoping they will play ball and that we won't have to strike again. Trusting Royal Mail? TRUSTING ROYAL MAIL? Rather the CWU than me. The trail of deceitful liars goes from your local DOM right up to Mr Adam Crozier himself. The CWU know this and yet give them the breathing space and time they need! I'm sorry but Royal Mail deserved absolutely no breathing space or time. They treat us the workforce like sh*t! We had them by the b*lls and they had no option but to take notice of us. The more strikes coming up to Christmas, the more Royal Mail would of had to have caved in and giving us something definite and concrete. Stevie Wonder could see that! What does the CWU settle for? Talks! F**king talks! Men and women didn't strike and lose pay to get talks as a result! We have indeed been sold down the river. We have missed a golden chance to get changes that will benefit us all. A chance I doubt we will ever, ever have again.
We are f**ked troops. Regardless if Royal Mail do play ball and we do get some changes. We will never ever have what we could of had if the strikes had continued. I don't think I have to explain how we'll be f**ked if we had to strike again.

agreed, we had them on the ropes and we bottled it, we had to hit them hard and show them we were prepared to strike over xmas. Do you think royal mail give a toss if we threaten to go on strike in january cos i dont. We had them over a barrell they were worried with xmas coming up and we were likely to get a much better deal.
Once xmas is out the way they will screw us.

At f***ing most we should have given em 2 weeks for talks, and if there was no progress have us out again,
I'm f****d OFF that the Union have capitulated,
18 f***ing days money lost.
I'm proud of every one of you my fellow colleagues who stood shoulder to shoulder in support of each other, shame that Union HQ's were not as strong as the membership.

Im a non union postie(and before you all start, yes i did strike this time, when work mates in the cwu didnt).Once again the union leaders have proved what a bunch of spineless parasites they are,did they not think of their people who have lost a small fortune by backing their call to strike, before caving in and basically licking the butts of crozier and co.What was it all for? we still have the same situation as we did 6months ago yet were all financially worse of.I hope the cwu executive choke on their salmon and caviar lunches.

I have to be honest guys, there was always a nagging doubt in the back of my mind about the strikes and if we would benefit at all. Let's face it, Ken Clarke Is calling for full privatization when they get into power. Surely if that happens we are well and truly f***ed. What IS the future for Royal Mail?

There is no commitment to not strike over Christmas and the ballot is still active. Stop falling for Brendan Barber's spiel. If RM f**k about then we can go again in 2 weeks.westlondonpostie wrote:At f***ing most we should have given em 2 weeks for talks, and if there was no progress have us out again

I think you need to listen to the video by Dave Ward on the CWU website and then make your mind up if you can go on strike again in two weeks - you cannot, there will be an independent review in two weeks which will then be discussed, but the statement is quite clear, there will be a strike free christmas.Harry_Perkins wrote:There is no commitment to not strike over Christmas and the ballot is still active. 'Cos we get concessions from them for calling off the strikes in the short term. They now have to go through ACAS, which is something they weren't exactly keen on for obvious reasons. Meanwhile, we still have the option to restart the strikes if necessary. You've got to fight on the ground where you are strong. This all out attack people are advocating has historically ended in defeat.Sci_Dog wrote:Harry_Perkins wrote:There is no commitment to not strike over Christmas and the ballot is still active. Excellent post, Sci_Dog. It seems to me that the union top brass were looking for any excuse to end the strike, with the likes of Billy Hayes and Dave Ward looking after their own future prospects rather than ours. I was hoping lessons had been learned from the stitch-up of 2007, but obviously not. Yet again a vague agreement has been drafted that allows RM plenty of opportunity to continue destroying both our future and that of the UK postal service.

The post below from another thread and is by a member called 'weetrogg' on here. It was such a good post I have just copied and pasted it.
For the I/A to be suspended and the "interim agreement" to be acceptable to me it needed to contain the following as a minimum
1) An immediate suspension of all unagreed lapsing/absorbing
2) An immediate standing down of these outhouses/scab units
3) An immediate independant review into bullying&harrassment
4) An immediate independant review into workrates and workloads
5) A public commitment by RM to go to acas to negotiate a binding national agreement
Now correct me if im wrong but the reasons above are why we were striking, yet having read the interim agreement non of this is guaranteed, so why call off the I/A?? Thank christ ive only took 2 days I/A an i still feel let down by HQ, if id took 15 or more days I/A like lots of others have id be f@+kig furious. Seriously if this goes the same way as 2007 the pec need to be removed en masse. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!!
I think the above list would have justified a suspension of I/A but this "agreement" falls way short I would appreciate it if anybody can enlighten me of the plus points or concessions in this agreement
WE are the union
THE ABOVE IS THE ONLY CONCESSIONS I THINK ARE ACCEPTABLE Harry_Perkins

Yes 100% agree, we have been used by the cwu to play a silly game, and we have achieved absolutely naff all..
