Cheers, is that the current agreement on uniform? Glad to see RM and the CWU are keeping up to date with their own working practices. Can't see the bit about drivers, but if that's the case, it pretty much DOES make it mandatory for everyone on a P & L delivery. Management in our office were adamant that everyone had to wear them at all times on delivery. (Until today at least).

Never used to wear my hi-viz on delivery, annoying things they are.

Also yeh I think they should change the hours in summer so the start is earlier, if the job could be done by 12 noon then things would be so much easier. But alas this would invovle changing all the systems in place and actually caring about the welfare of the staff.

One of our guys collapsed on Saturday, blacked out, badly cut his head as he hit the ground, he could not remember exactly what happened but he was back in on Monday. He had not even seen a doctor and the DOM still let him go back out. I said to the DOM that if he fell over again and died that he would be criminally responsible, but he just said its up to him if he goes out. Another person went out Monday and completed 6 loops, spending nearly 6 hours in the sun and she went home and threw up with symptoms of sun stroke. Lo and behold she came in the next day and continued. If people are going to continue like this the bosses will never take the health risks in this heat seriously, until somebody dies. At the very least they should have to avoid anyone being out in the middle of the day in weather like this.

I heard one of our guys suffered some sort of seizure yesterday, luckily it was before he left the office and there were plenty of people about to help. We've had a few throwing up when they've finished. This heat is too much. Staff are going to snap through lack of sleep and constant heat during the day.....this needs to be dealt with by RM and not just swept under the carpet as per usual.

They did, Last week. Postie (53) dropped dead (heart attack) in the heat less than 3 miles from my house from a neighboring office, It's his funeral today, RIP.

It's the most up to date one I could find,if I drive I put it on,but the moment I start delivering it come's off,I have been checked whilst on delivery by I.B a couple of times and nothing has ever been said about not wearing a hi vis,just make sure you have your I.D.

I would definitely say get a good hat, at the very least a cap. The amount of posties I've seen in the last few days with no hat is just daft. Especially the baldie blokes, your head is just gona be absorbing a shedload of sun and UV, not only bad for heatstroke but also potential for future skin cancer, but hey were all blokes who cares about things like that eh?

My driver drives out the yard then does the same amount of loops as me so what then,,he says his work load is greater as I don't drive so should he be wearing a string vest

No,only when he is loading or unloading the vehicle,once walking take it off and leave in the van.

That's fine if you have a toilet on your delivery. Some don't and are struggling to get enough fluids in for fear of needing to go to the toilet whilst out and about.

I don't ... but I have secluded place to do a piss ... anyhoo I brought this up among others during our revision and the planner and dom did feck all ... the problem was raised and if someone is caught doing a pee on delivery ... both the planner and dom will be held responsible and not the postie

33.1c in the shade. Van display showing 36c! Hopefully it will cool down otherwise there is going to be more serious health implications.

Showing 38.4 in direct sun here in NW London. 32.8 inside in shade. They must have let our local posties go out earlier because mine must have come before 12.00 when I was out. He normally gets here between 14.00-14.30. Card left saying delivery attempted at 11.50. I'll have to go to DO to pick up item tomorrow.
