Got to have a formal meeting with a Manager on Mon about my situation

I had a 'fact finding' one today with the union rep present.

Just for the record, you say there was a 45min loop that did not get delivered, pro's and cons aside who said what, where and when, the PDA's that you have with you have a phone facility, this is for you to contact office/hub/m/c or breakdown service, if you have not been trained on this facility this is yet another Mngt failure, also as someone else said there should be someone responsible at DO to answer it in case of emergency or to deal with a situation such as yours.... but that said the Conduct code holds the field about notifying as soon as poss :wave :wave

3.2 AFTER COMMENCEMENT OF DELIVERY
a) If an individual is prevented from completing their delivery for any reason, it is essential that this is reported immediately either by returning to the office or by telephone (telephone costs will be refunded). A written record will be kept.

I'll try to answer your questions Glenno.

I spoke with my P&L partner before we left the office and he said yeah no worries i'll finish it off even if i go over i don't mind

I have not been trained on the phone side of the PDA just basic scanning - 5 min training on that too

I fully expected someone to be in the office on my return to explain the situation too but all Managers including the DOM were out doing deliveries :arrrghhh I asked about and got oh there all out

Oh and good detective skills Glenno

I'll add, it was the first time it went tits up and it was mainly due to the shocking prep on the other walk resulting in us getting out 1 hr late.

Because they are sent on walks planed or cut off's these twats of managers/planers never do this as they get everyone else but themselves to do it while we get feck all they get a big fat bonus which goes into their pensions!.

The day is nearly here :nervous

A few things that are bugging me. I am wondering why my P+L partner is not having a meeting aswell as in my view it's his responsibility too seeing as it's a van share, no? I seem to be the one singled out due to me being the driver and obviously bringing 'our' Loop back.

I'm also wondering is it right no Management were present when I returned to the office? my intention was to explain the situation right away and thus more than likely this meeting tomorrow wouldn't be happening.

Can I challenge the official "black mark on my record" that the Lino said I may get as I do feel harshly treated and a little victimised in this situation (p+l partner should be getting same treatment)

I am not at all worried just a little peeved.

Cheers.

The driver takes full responsebility for specials etc, not sure about loops though. No managers being there, you could have used, but they where out delivering so its a non starter. They wont have your partner in coz it was your loop. He completed, you didnt. That being said, you do have points, you have to get your children, there was no one there, what could you have done? Make sure to say there was no one to get your kid apart from you. It just sounds like crossed wires, and managers trying to cover their backs by making you then scapegoat. They also have to issue so many warning etc per month or quarter, and they`ll take whatever they can.

Good luck, dont take it too personaly though, there after us all
Hi mate, thanks for the reply.

No meeting took place today at my request due to the Rep being off.

The Manager dealing with it is sound to be fair although he used to be a union rep himself :confused

I also found out today someone did the exact same thing on Sat brought a loop back rang up but no management available thrown it back in the frame and no formal meeting :d'oh!

Joke of a place, we left a loop in today and completed the rest just about.

I'm being moved onto a HCT duty tomorrow which is fine but i raised the point if i'm/we're getting out late then it's still no impossible to complete.

Shambles really and i try tot to take it personally but when you see what goes on and how bad it's got it's pretty difficult.

Several weeks ago walked-in on-time at 8 on a Saturday to be given a prepped full round, "Take the packets as per normal?", "Yes please". No ways would've, could've or should I complete but wtf it was what I was given to do. Bought back easily 2/3rds having ensured all Tracked, Signed Fors and Packets attempted - never heard a thing...

You have to ring up an hour before your finish time to let them know. Or else its on your back
i was under the impression that you had to tell management before you left the office if you may not be able to complete

Either and both as long as the manager makes the decision.

The guiding principle is you tell MANAGERS as early as possible, sometimes that may mean because of circumstances you tell them after you went out, or it may be 3 hours before. Accidents, major incidents, breakdowns - they all happen and they can delay you, so if they do call the boss and let him make the decision - even if you don't mind working over.

His partner didn't complete. It is a van share duty, therefore if a loop is not delivered then it is both pairs responsibility. The bottom line is, the outdoor workload was obviously too much, given the time the pair left the office. Now, clearly the pair should have notified management prior to commencing delivery or as soon as it became clear that completion would not be possible - from the sounds of it though, completion was pretty much guaranteed by the posters p&l partner who then reneged on this agreement.

There is no such thing as "your loop". The workload is the workload and is split between the 2 persons on delivery. Yes, loops are planned to balance the workload fairly, but there are times when that balance is thrown out for various reasons, and it is both persons responsibility to make it work (if possible).
