Saturday Guaranteed Special Deliveries

Hi, can anyone advise me about the procedures concerning SG's, my new DOM insists that all specials deliveries on Saturday's are given the same treament and must be delivered no later than 1 PM, so people paying the extra cash to guarantee delivery by 1 PM get the same service as those choosing not to pay the extra!!!!!!.Surely this can't be correct?(possibly fraudulent)
I 'm a rural delivery postie covering some 40 miles and cutting off to make sure all the specials are there by 1 is a nightmare..not to mention costly in time and diesel.

when i collected my specials the saturday before last, i was given an international letter from france or some place. i said "hang on, this isnt a special"
apparently it was labelled a priority letter and came in with the specials, therefore it was to be treated as a special and delivered before 1pm on a saturday!
I raised my eyebrows and took it, i was done before 1pm anyway that day so not an issue... but thats not the point?

I don't think foreign priority items have to be delivered before 1pm on any day nevermind saturday

People aren't getting the same service.
If a SG doesn't arrive before 1pm on a saturday it's refund time.
If a normal SD doesn't...it isn't.
Different service.
From our point of view it makes no difference.

This is like the CN ones we get,sometimes it's a special,sometimes it's not.
If it comes with the reg from the MC then it's reg as such.
EDIT:Not sure bout the time thing though.

If your manager insists on you doing it then do it, if it takes you over your time then cut off/book ot. If they make stupid rules then we can only follow the.

treat as an SD except the 1PM time doesnt apply

I think you will find its a failure on the PDA if its after 1pm

Ermm! No! The individual is being instructed that ALL SD's are by 13:00 Mon-Sat. No! Unless there is the yellow/purple sticker for "Saturday Guaranteed". This is mainly firms!

yes,you may have Saturdday retention
however if its on delivery,its before 1

I was told that SG was really for firms that are open on Sat ? In any case, does it really matter? Just do your job, work your hours and go home. It's a managers job to tell us what to do
