It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I can't be bothered watching it because I'm sure it's the usual drivel.

I understand the need to be sensible, the need to be pragmatic...even the need to accept that some things are inevitable but i'm afraid that for Dave to sit there and say that Europe giving the Tories the go ahead to rob our pension assets and sell us off should be seen by the membership as a "good thing" is a step too far.
Yes the pension is important but not if you don't have a job to pay into it with.
In 5 years time it will be seen for what it is...the beginning of the end for the company as we see it and probably the union with it.
It's a bit like seeing your last meal as a good thing as the hangman fixes the knot.

Ironic Dave...moaning about labour changing it's position.

Re: Looking Ahead to 2012 with Dave Ward:Video
I feel so much more secure knowing that Dave is on the case
, that he feels we need to deliver on BT2010, that he recognises times are hard, that he realises that RM are in a difficult financial position, that he would like to rein in union expenses and to provide better support for reps. What I find odd is that he speaks of the CWU as though it isn't the membership, that they will try to get the best deal for the membership as though that isn't their raison d'etre. A fine gentlemans club in a lucrative position in the City - we should vote to sell it off and get a few pre-fabs in Birmingam at a fraction of the cost. Having seen Billys contribution to the 2012 situation
in trying to look like Mr Laid Back he would have been better with a Krusty outfit.
Dave Ward spoke of the Dutch Postal Service having contracts of only 9 hours, without any details of course - and I would be interested to know how much productive work could be achieved in that length of time. Perhaps he conveniently forgets that our employment history on hourly contracts in recent years has dropped dramatically also culminating in the latest craze of employing workfare candidates which the CWU has also embraced, which is actually a NO HOURS contract of sorts.
If it's horses for courses they're in a different field.
