Here we go!
Hey guys, was just wanting to simplyfy things for everyone.
Here is the deal
1. £400 lump sum
2. £1000 lump sums over the next 3 years
3. £20.80 per week, every week for 3 years = 3,000
4 £7 per week pay rise for 3 years = £1050
5 £5 per week for 2 years = £500
6 £12 per week for 1 year = £600
Total gained = £6500 estimated over 3 years
Now what we lose
1. £12 per week for 3 years = £1900
2. £25 per week door 2 doors for 3 years = £3300 (46 weeks per year)
In essance we are gaining £1300 for the next 3 years, however as we have not had a pay rise this year,
for the 4 years we are gaining £6 per week, which equels a pay rise of just 0.4% each year.
In addition to this we have to do an unlimited amount of door 2 door items, including dedicated
one day door 2 doors, which mean you may have 100% call rate on any day of the week
including saturdays.

Re: Here we go!
Thanks for the breakdown. But lump sums are not pensionable, so another reason to vote "NO".
In the short term, someone that will be retiring from the job in a couple of years will be reaping in the benefits.

Plus the lump sums are already due to us, they've just been renamed so you need to remove them from your figures.

Re: Here we go!
Thanks for the breakdown.
I can see problems straight away with the collating of the extra D2D items as at the moment our manager expects this to be done outside your duty time. Will he understand my cut off each day due to the fact ive had to prep a load of door 2 door, s nope i doubt it. Just more stress not needed.
I am all for saving the company and getting us through the reccesion but not for working myself into the ground to help boost the managers bonuses.

Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

That sounds all well and good In the agreement but what will happen in real life on the office floor. You cant let everyone off the ips to collate thier leaflets and I doubt I will be relieved a road from my delivery to give me any extra time.
No stokesy it will be the same old story from the managers “just get on with it” attitude as I sit there surrounded by boxes of D2D,s and a 5 hr delivery to deal with.

Re: Here we go!
But if that is the case no agreement could ever be satisfactory. The CWU has had to take a leap of faith or we go nowhere. There is a commitment by both sides to improve industrial relations in order to help the business. No business = no jobs.krussel wrote:

D2D into workload means it has to be counted as part of the office traffic and you have to be allocated adequate time to prep and deliver your walk. The question is will the performance standards be achievable.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Here we go!
Can someone tell me why the Union has agreed to us not being paid "per item" for D2D's ?

Re: Here we go!
I'm a counters colleague but thought I would just join in and congratulate shaunman for putting the facts and figures so simply.
It's going to be really difficult to argue in favour of what RM are offering when you see things presented as dramatically they are in the opening post.
I speak to our wonderful posties every day as I am fortunate enough to be part of a delivery office building and I fully understand the implications of how the D2D proposals will negatively affect a lot of my Royal Mail colleagues.
What I don't understand is why the CWU executive think that this is an acceptable deal to the workforce. If I, as a counters man, can see it's clearly a crap deal then why can't the union executive see it too?
I honestly can't see a 'yes' vote for this deal and I fear there are more troubled times ahead for Royal Mail and, just for the record, Counters ain't a bundle of fun at the moment and I'm not looking at a rosy future for us either.
Best of luck to you all.

Re: Here we go!
I cant wait for these changes to come in.
Lets be honest. Theres no way these proposals are going to work on a day to day basis. Theres just too many variable and impracticalities for the average RM dullard line manager to deal with. Can you imagine your idiot lino organising park and loop cover when your 'buddy' driver goes sick at 930am? Can you envisage the chaos in your office when 4 time sensitive saturday D2Ds come in late ? Its going to be the best thing ever!
Let the management bring whatever they want in and laugh as it all goes horribly wrong while you are merrily working to your time.

Re: Here we go!
Thanks for that but that is an average full-timers break down. Part timers still loose the 25 average d2d money but get 15quid not 20quid - if on a 30hr contract. And for the same working conditions changes they will also be rewarded PRO RATA!shaunman wrote:Hey guys, was just wanting to simplyfy things for everyone.

As well as pointing out the lump sums of 1grand are already agreed and our money as a right already I would also question whether they will be paid as they are attatched to strings and RM can refuse to pay them based on non-compliance with certain conditions.

Re: Here we go!
I am rubbish at maths, otherwise I would do it myself, but can someone work out a table like the above for someone working a 30 hour contract? Same number of d2d's, but everything else should be pro-rata....
Just want to see how much I'll be losing!
