Bike accident

I had an accident (no one else involved) cycling from royal mail to my home on my own bicycle which resulted in a lacerated fracture of the right arm. I was still in Royal Mail uniform and was wondering whether this accident should be recorded as an ERICA? I had to have a 5hr operation on the arm and have been signed off for 4 weeks, but could be longer. How does this accident affect my next two weeks which is a rotating week off followed by a week of annual leave?

make sure you say you had a high vis and helmet on, thats asuming you did'nt

One other thing that i found out from DOM so it most probs B/S .

You say that you werent travelling home but travelling back to the D/O report your accident to the DWP I have the number will put it up once ive bug it out for you and also ring your branch and report it to the legal medical office and make sure your DOM does make an erica report.

I once got collared by a manager going home without an helmet on a RM bike ,i said ive finished, his reply was if you're on a RM bike you wear a helmet
You will keep your annual leave ,don't know about your rota week but who cares your going to be off the next 8 weeks

I reckon that if you are ill during your holidays you can claim holidays another time. It happened to me many years ago. I was due to be on nights for a week, then two weeks summer hols. I had an accident and was signed off sick for 4 weeks. I was off the nightshift, the two weeks holiday and the week I was due to return after holiday. So had my two weeks hols later.

I'm pretty sure that legally, they have to let you have your holidays at another time, but knowing Royal Mail, they'll not have it. Best get expert advice, union, Citizens Advice, solicitor, or all three.

NewPostie you are correct as a lad in our place has been off for 12 months he was called in today and told to take his 6 weeks leave from last year (he buys 2 weeks)

Hes saw this as a god send due to the fact hes been on half pay for 6 months at least now he will 6 weeks full pay by the time his 6 weeks is up he will be due back to work.

Thanks for the advice. I was back at the hospital today to remove the plaster, but was told to keep a fresh plaster on for the next three weeks. RM rang today to tell me a nurse is ringing tomorrow to conduct an interview.

No wonder they're taking our bikes off us when people are falling off them with nobody around
