WE HATE THEM BUT DON'T WALK INTO THE TRAP

Post by lovejoy »

This site has been a tremendous success since it was started and i'm sure many would agree it gives better information than most union and RM areas!

It also enables us to share our problems, agreements and greviences. The trouble with a public forum though is exactly that .... it is very public.

Royal Mail management sit and scan through here constantly everyday. We have seen sackings, suspensions and threats issued to users of this site and now the creator of this great forum is being hunted.

I have and never will take a backstep from management but i have always been able to do this without resorting to swearing, insulting and naming names. This type of approach means that even if RM do find out who we are they cannot do anything about it.

Sadly when we lower ourselves to their level and start throwing the Fs and Cs around they just sit back analyse what we are posting and slower narrow their search down. We may all think thats fine but 1. none of us can afford to be out of a job and 2. The pressure grows on POSTMAN with every idiotic post.

I am well aware i'll probably get a few replied to this post that will not be so complimentary but to these posters why can't you make your point without the expletives.

In short we are in very real danger of either 1 the lawyers attempting to close this site or 2 POSTMAN realising he is a plonker for putting his own neck on the line and closing it himself.

POSTMAN, TBT, Johnnypick make massive efforts to clean up any dodgy stuff but they can't be on here 24/7. I don't want this forum to close. I love sharing information and views but make no mistake thats the way we're going if things continue.

If someone posts something you don't like then make a reasoned response or even PM the individual.

I think we sometimes lose sight of who the real enemy is. Sadly if some people do not wake up then they'll be getting interviewed, conducted and even sacked by the sly eyes that lurk!!

COME ON GUYS LETS NOT THROW AWAY WHAT WE HAVE BUILT UP HERE!!! :Very Happy

I am quite happy to have a debate with either the management or fellow postal workers. But I have never had to resort to swearing or insulting or breaching the Rm conduct code.
This way I can continue to have a reasoned debate without fear of reprisals.
There really is no need for any posting to be abusive, let the strength of your argument be your weapon.

One thing I'd like to add is that a lot of internet hosting companies are very quick to drop their clients when they receive complaints whether they are true or not.

I don't know which company POSTMAN uses but I'm sure management at Royal Mail will be quick to lean on POSTMAN's hosting company if they see anything that may constitute bullying, harassment or libel and try and get the site shut down.

It would be a great shame to see the site close for one persons thoughtless comments.

Yep, was about to say that, RM could shut the site via the host if they wanted to cut corners and could find solid legal grounds for doing so. Not unheard of these days. Its not good to dumb a site down but we do have to think of the long term otherwise without this, communication would vanish. Well said Lovejoy.

bickering

:Applause :Applause :Applause for one of the better contributors -turning into a bickering forum like Hellmail was , any nonsense & threads were locked pronto , never thought I'd end up praising it -but ____

It was a pleasure to come on here after flights of fantasy about locking posties up ,from Dom moderators from Hell; & posties goading each other about crossing picket lines & docket

Some good comedy acts from Old St moderating too . Don't get me started on Johnboy & Mary Poppin's forum ! .

Just read all the not so subtle hints about RMC on Hellfail , & RM senior mgrs masquarading as Joe Public on Comment on this sections .

Play it a bit cleverer boys & girls & keep it a thorn in the side of RM .

Even that well known leftie rag , The Telegraph have called RM Stalinist a few times , you can be that way out ; you meet the other side round the back but it's about winning wars not necessarily the battles .

You're right, lovejoy......... We're up against the industrial equivalent of the Gestapo/KGB, people who will stop at nothing to stifle the voices of discontented postal workers. We are up against people who are ruthless, just ruthless, and not a little vindictive as well. I will just have to curb my tongue, or rather my fingers, and keep every expletive that pops into my head every time I think of Leighton & Crozier and their army of underlings, to myself. :Very Happy

agree with the thread and when i read a post containing bad language it doesn,t hold as much weight because the writers anger over rides what he is saying. we know people posting are passionate about what they are saying as they have taken the time and effort to post comments. so no need to swear to get your point across ok

Now, swearing don't bother me one iota. I really cannot understand why a contributor's point, once put across, would be any the less relevant because they had injected a little earthiness to their post. If someone has a point, someone has a point, end of. :Very Happy

Blimey, there could well have been the same sort of warning doing the rounds in Berlin, circa. 1933 - 1945. Royal Fail take on an increasingly Fascist look every day.

there's some very clever people there.

unfortunately they will not use that intelligence to improve the business, but to victimise and persecute employees who dare to think differently from their herd.

it's a culture that stifles innovation in and rewards mediocracy.

None of us are perfect, but....

Post by andy2007 »

None of us are perfect. But if we try to avoid personal insults and bad language, then we should have nothing to worry about. I have noticed, when I went back over some of my previous posts, that I have fallen into this trap occasionally. But I do try to make an effort not to do so, and will try to take a few deep breaths before posting in the future.

So long as it doesn't get excessive, I don't think that rare lapses are too much of a problem. We're only Human after all. But there are some, who take it to extremes, and it needs to stop.

Unfortunately the chickens come home to roost and the worm eventually turns .As for being "negative ", what is there to be positive about in this "brave new world "?

The top down style has been rejected by most businesses , 70's command & control styles are deemed to be too negative . You just get overgrown prefects in a minor public school type people and we know who the idiot of a headmaster is + 6th form petty/industrial politics . The spite ,sulkiness, pettiness & vindictiveness is quite juvenile too.

Leighton just borrows ideas from other people , most firms used the IBM approach in the 80's , it backfired in that industry , from being market leader people jumped ship i.e. Dell, Compaq etc . Walmart had 50 law suits against it for illegal employment practices . Asda 's been taken to ET and heavily fined too.

Unfortunately only Leighton is allowed to be a "maverick personalty" manager , the rest is fear , uncertainity and doubt/b*****t and spin & hype . Most of these types tend to be obnoxious and you just end up with the worst of both cultures only taken to extremes . :lfo :lfo :lfo :cfo :cfo :cfo
