Gone from FT to PT 30 hrs and life is sweet!

After day 2 of my buy down and life is stress free again start @ 7am 2.15 to prep my walk and bag up.Out of the door by 9.30am after a cuppa.12.40 finish Mon/Tues and i think its 13.10 rest of the week.Pick of the OT and no absorbtion ok had to book 1.15 so far but I do the job by the book bag drops and cycle duty I,m £50 a week down but lie in and stress free work yes please, just thought I would share as I wonder what to do with my buy down money

i used to do 40 hours ... had a baby.. came back after maternity .. asked for temporary 30 hours ... then wen i asked for my 40 hours back i was told NO .... no buy down for me .. just a kickin..
but glad it suits you and you are stress free.. enjoy

It's not really p/time if you book OT though is it , sort of defeats the object of going P/T.......

If you took a buydown you shouldn't be doing overtime. Pretty sure it's outlawed as part of the payout in MTSF.

We've one in my office that took buy down. Hes at work more now than he ever was before. He's a complete tosser, so please tell me the MTSF is correct and I'll be happy to mention it to management

Nope - A buy down applies to contractural hours not to actual hours worked. You are allowed Over Time after a buy down its actually in the policy part of the Buy down section of MTSF2.

Glad it suits and you are happy at the moment, in our office I know of 2 who had buy downs and at first were like yourself but not now, they have realised that their pension will not be as much and the cost of living is rising by the day it seems and like mentioned before they are begging for o/t which is extremely rare now a days.

No - Its volunatry but RM don't have to accept it - also it tends to only happen when there is a revision when they need to get rid of hours. Also it seems as though it only happens when they do a preference exercise before a revison/repick.

Can someone PLEASE offer some explanation of how you manage to get buydowns!?!?

Even though we need to lose hours out of our D.O. and I've let it be known to my Union Rep that I'd be willing to reduce my hours he claims he's made enquiries and theres absoloutely no chance of me getting a buydown out of it.
So how come people in other offices are being offered them?

A lot depends wack.
You wont get a buy down if you have vacancies,even if say x amount of duties are losing hrs.
If your office has to recruit you have no chance.
