"Employers are always seeking more productivity from workers, without considering the human factor, the worker's age, the weather conditions and the intense heat. We need to intervene before it's too late, reducing working hours and the load carried by workers, because it's impossible to sustain the rhythm they're forced to work at for many years."

No, not slowly, we are already there and will remain there until a proper socialist government is returned to power. Unfortunately there isn,t one of them within the big three.

On a serious note fellas IF you are really worried about your employment situation start to plan ahead for that dreaded day! :hmmmm

There's enough advice out there on the Internet, but it makes sense to take basic precautions such as trying to reduce Overdrafts and credit card Debt. We all squeal about it but it's not going to go away....... and it won't disappear if you do decide to resign when offered a crap set of T & Cs. Do as much Overtime as you can and use Moya's money to help you pay them of! :cool God forbid cancel the Sky TV (Pet Hate) and put that money towards it.

I've been saying the same myself... I honestly think you have to go as far back as Victorian times to find another period when the working class have been so powerless and disenfranchised... we're just completely at the mercy of the employers these days.

Just a few examples off the top of my head..

... the courts 'outlawing' legitimately balloted strikes on petty technicalities
... huge upfront fees to go to industrial tribunals
... zero hours contracts, no different at all to the days when workers had to turn up at the gates of the mill or pit every morning to find out if they were going to get a days work.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

NWpostie wrote:As the post says coming off the last thread I was on, one of the question was is the world of work outside RM better or worse ?

Is it ? is there good employers that won't treat you like sh1t and the pay & work rate is reasonable or is it a case of out of the frying pan into the fire for some ?
I got ihr after 13 years..at first I thought to myself I made a massive mistake but 6 months later I'm working for the council earning roughly what I was earning at RM...it is so more relaxed working for the council no one standing behind you telling you to stop talking, no drinking on the fitting and I've got my weekends back... :thumbup
