One worker believes more could be done to safeguard his colleagues.

A Royal Mail delivery office has undergone an 'intensive clean' after three employees tested positive for coronavirus.

The affected workers are now self-isolating at home following the outbreak at the Stone sorting office.

It is understood other staff members are also being swabbed as a precaution.

One worker, who wished to remain anonymous, believes more could be done to safeguard his colleagues.

He said: "The three confirmed cases are isolating at home, there’s no problem for them. They are going to get paid because they can’t get into work.

"My concern is for the safety of my colleagues. We were supposed to have the office deep cleaned but we had some lady come around with a rag and some bleach, that’s not deep cleaning. They are very worried and concerned.

"There’s two people who we class as high risk.

"Royal Mail has come back and said there is no need for them to isolate because they have got sufficient social distancing and safeguarding in place.

“If the safeguarding and distancing was working, we wouldn't have three confirmed cases?"

However, Royal Mail today insisted every precaution is being taken to protect its staff and customers.

A spokesman said: “Royal Mail takes the health and safety of its colleagues, its customers and the local communities in which we operate very seriously.

“We have carried out an intensive clean of the site and have organised additional cleaning of key touch points and all communal areas. We are keeping the CWU and colleagues updated.

“Throughout this crisis, every decision we make puts the health of our people and customers first. We have a range of preventive measures in place to protect both our customers and our colleagues.

“As well as encouraging good hand hygiene, standard ways of working have been revised to ensure that colleagues maintain appropriate social distancing at all times.

"All staff have been briefed about the social distancing measures jointly agreed by local management and the CWU. This has been supplemented with visible reminders such as posters and one-way floor markings.”
VERY IMPORTANT AND INFORMATIVE CORONAVIRUS THREAD HERE
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low life c***s they have always been.
