Royal Mail PLC said it will prioritise Covid test kits during strikes this month as cases surge once again.
Communication Workers Union (CWU) members employed by Royal Mail will be striking on the 13, 20, and 25 October as well as 28 November.
In a statement, the postal service said it will “prioritise the delivery of Covid test kits and medical prescriptions wherever possible” on the day of the strikes.
Newly reported Covid cases and hospitalisations have begun to surge once again in England.
In the seven days up to and including 24 September, there were 12,106 newly reported cases, an increase of 42%, official government figures show.
Hospitalisations were up 47% in the week up to including 26 September, an increase of nearly 2,000 people.
Yesterday, Royal Mail confirmed its name change to International Distributions Services, which will represent the listed holding company.
Royal Mail will remain the name for its UK letters and parcel business.
