A postal worker bravely foiled an attempted robbery by two masked men - thought to be armed with a shotgun - in East Grinstead.
The relief sub Post Office master - who says he has been the victim of such incidents on 13 previous occasions - boldly told the two men to ‘go away’ when confronted by them.
Police say that the incident happened at Stone Quarry Post Office in Hollands Way just after 4.20pm on Friday November 30.
One of the men demanded money from the safe while the other stood by the door.
But the brave postal worker stood his ground and told the pair to leave - which they did, empty-handed.
The man who demanded the cash is described as around 5’6” tall, aged 35-40 and spoke with a local accent. He wore a white boiler suit and appeared to have a shotgun in a black holdall.
Both men wore masks and gloves.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident – or the two men pictured in the CCTV image above – to call 101 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
