Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
Hi there,
I live in New Zealand and my Mum lives in the UK. She posted two parcels to me on Thursday 3rd December - they were posted together on the same day. Both were sent with end to end tracking, with signature on delivery. From the tracking, both parcels arrived at Langley on Friday 4th December but only one of them left Langley about two hours later. The parcel that left Langley was delivered to me on 21st December (tracking number RN710823805GB) but the other is still saying "Tracking no. RN710823782GB We have received your item at LANGLEY HWDC, our international processing centre. Your item is being prepared for despatch overseas."
I fully understand there have been delays and complications with Covid etc but I'd really like to know if we can still expect the parcel to be sent or if we should consider it lost?
Any help would be very much appreciated :-)

Nothing, apart from keeping an eye on the tracking statuses.

I think that's lost - there are delays but that's 7 weeks - I don't think the delays are that long. Your Mum should contact Royal Mail to make a claim or you could try twitter @royalmailhelp.Jogis wrote: ↑21 Jan 2021, 19:06Hi there,

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
Thanks for your reply - Mum has the postage receipt but has misplaced the receipt for the contents, so has been told she can't claim by the person she spoke to at Royal Mail, unfortunately. Shame as she's a pensioner and each parcel cost her £32 to post!
Additionally, she posted a third parcel a couple of days later (around 5th December) but doesn't have the postage receipt for that one, so we can't track it and that hasn't arrived either. They were Christmas and birthday gifts and she's gutted. We've never had any issues sending parcels either to or from NZ before, and this time around only 1 of the 3 have arrived :-(

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
there is an outside chance they have been sent by Surface Post (sea) for some reason. Hopefully they will turn up at some point. I did track one of your number on NZ Post but they said its not a tracked service.

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
Hi,
I'd be most grateful if anyone can advise if there are delays or what the expected time is to clear a letter through HWDC?
I sent something from Finland to the UK on the 17th January. Tracking number is LX093514487FI. It left Finland on the 18th so should have been in the UK on the 18th/19th but as of yet (the 29th Jan) it hasn't been delivered and there is no additional tracking for it.
Am just wondering what the current processing times are for this, being as it's just a normal A4 envelope with some documents inside.
Thanks in advance.

@TrueBlueTerrier Are all parcels that are shipped with USPS handled by Royal Mail?

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
Thank you very much for the response.Snaggletooth wrote: ↑29 Jan 2021, 19:54There isn't an expected time, because items get pulled at random for extra checks.
If it's not pulled though, what sort of time frame is expected? Or if it is pulled - can anyone advise on the time frame then? How long on average are letters taking to clear the extra checks?
Official channels I have tried to follow up with say there are delays, but that's about all the info I can get.
Would be most grateful if anyone could advise.
Thanks again.

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
As far as I am aware, customs do not publish clearing times.
Also, you imply that it is a binary pulled / not pulled choice, whereas I suspect that there are multiple standards of checking used and / or additional levels to go through if certain contents are found.
In other words: I don't think you are going to find the information you are looking for.

There isn't enough information there for anyone to help. Could you provide the tracking, tell us what countries it is going to & from and tell us what is inside the package?

Re: Customs at Langley HWDC
We get a lot of queries about HWDC Langley and we can not give you anymore tracking information than what you already have.
If there is a delay it may be that your item is stuck in customs which seems to be the norm, there could be a CUSTOMS CHARGE or there could be generally too much work for the system to cope with.
And please note, most international items do not get tracked anymore in our system after arriving at Langley until they are delivered.
The same for items going out of Langley. When an item leaves us we can't do anything as it's in another postal operators system.
There are enough threads on the subjet to show you that unfortunatly it's a waiting game.
