I went online at royalmail.com to send a standard A3 size letter (just within standard letter size).
I wanted Tracked 48, but that was not an available option on the standard letter size.
So, I selected Large Letter, and that does offer the Tracked 48 option.
It seems like a silly question, but can I send a smaller letter by Tracked 48?
If I can, why is it not an option when choosing the standard letter size?

Shove, "letters" are machineable, therefore they won't be processed (or scanned) manually by a person.
Unlike parcels and large letters.
I have seen concert tickets sent out as "tracked" but this would be a specific "bulk posting".
That would be my guess

Letter sorting machines don't scan the barcodes of any Tracked items that find their way into them. They have to be scanned manually if spotted and pulled out by the machine operatorsBenacreNick wrote: ↑29 Mar 2024, 11:26Shove, "letters" are machineable, therefore they won't be processed (or scanned) manually by a person.

Actually they do scan them. Next time you have one that has been through the mech SP, look in the locker tracking and it will say "Automation scan" or similar. Customer tracking just indicates a scan, not the method.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Mar 2024, 12:08Letter sorting machines don't scan the barcodes of any Tracked items that find their way into them.
