Parcels routing through Langley

Post by GrahamCresswell »

Is there any way of finding out if a parcel has been placed on an outbound flight and, if so, which one?

I'm not sure if you can find out which flight it has been placed on specifically, but you should be able to establish if it has left the UK either from the RM tracking or the tracking of the Country you are sending to.

It might be worth plugging your tracking number into Parcelsapp.com, as this will show the various carriers scans as a parcel moves internationally.

All of the sites I have visited, including that one, return the same message that the item was received at Langley at 04:05 on 12 November. To my certain knowledge there have been several flights arriving here in Barbados since then and it's difficult to imagine why a small parcel could sit doing nothing for 3 days when there are flights every day.

Nope.

Once they enter the bonded area (customs) there are no more scans made until it passes out of the bonded area at the destination country. Therefore if Customs seize or inspect a batch, there is no way to know for sure what part, or indeed if the whole batch made or missed the flight.

I would say about 99% of items that are scanned out of the country will normally make the next flight for that destination, however, even then it's impossible to say with any certainty which flight they were put on. This is partly due to the processes involved, but also due to security and anti-terrorism measures.
