China packet missing......

Post by speckledtangerine »

Hello everyone.
Ex PHG here but took IHR 5 years back. I ordered some Xmas stuff early for the kids. All was good and the senders tracking was spot on. Item number- SF6043246846222.
Problem is on the Aftership tracker I've got the full track from China into the UK including the RM side all the way through. It came through Edinburgh MC and was delivered (signed by) on a RM PDA from Dunfermline DO on Saturday at 10.31am. I'm a main door onto the steet and never got it. There is NO TRACK on RM tracking as the number is not recognised.
Contacted the DO and they washed their hands. No valid item number means no check off the PDA and no GPS. Make a claim, or rather the sender in China should.
My question is how come the number is recognised and tracked right through on a 3rd party app, but not RM?
And yes, it was a Saturday random on delivery, not the regular postie.
Any ideas on what's happened or what I should do?
Cheers!

It's possible that it's being shipped into the UK in a container with many other orders under the same tracking number. Once in the UK they go to a warehouse which splits the contents of the container into the individual orders, each of which gets a RM tracking number

Thanks for the reply spacepheonix. I did consider that, but this was the track off "aftership" that set the alarm bells ringing....

It looks like a scan was made through our network all the way through MCs and then the DO. How can that be picked up by an RM PDA but not be recognised through RM track and trace. Things have changed since I left! Would you be able to see the manifest off the gun for that day and see the scans matching the time recorded?

There must be another tracking number associated with it as all RM scanners would reject that tracking number, probably any PSMs would also reject the tracking number

Cheers for that reply too. That was my thinking. The PDA manifest is the key here I think. I'll get down the D.O. and ask about that. It's clearly been misdelivered but I need to suss out where.

I can't be bothered with a claim launched by the Chinese sender especially when it's not their fault.

https://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking/SF6043246846222 doesn't show any Royal Mail involvement.

As you say neither Royal Mail nor Parcel Force recognises the tracking number. All very strange might be a scam if you don't find it at the DO might be worth a chargeback.
