General Overview

We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. If resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures prevent this, we’ll deliver at least every other day. It’s only in extreme cases, where offices are severely affected by absence levels, when this may not be possible. We'll let you know on this page, any postcode areas where this is the case.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Movement of mail through our network

Royal Mail operates an air, rail and road network to move letters and parcels between our distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices around the UK. Here we let you know about any significant issues in our logistics operation.

Air
Our air services all operated to schedule over the last 24-hours.

Rail
Our rail services all operated to schedule over the last 24-hours.

Road
Unplanned roadworks on the M1 delayed the arrival of a vehicle at our National Distribution Centre from Gatwick Mail Centre. As a result, some mail posted yesterday in the BN and RH postcode areas, may arrive later than expected in other parts of the UK.

Road closures and diversions also delayed the arrival of a vehicle at our Princess Royal Distribution Centre from Swansea Mail Centre. As a result, some mail posted in the SA postcode area, due for delivery today in London and the South East of England, may arrive later than expected.

Mail Centres
The mail centre below reported not all mail was processed to schedule over the last 24 hours, and as a result may be delivered slightly later than expected.

Chester Mail Centre: Some mail posted yesterday in the CH, LL and SY postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.

Deliveries today

Due to resourcing issues, associated self-isolation and safety measures, deliveries in some areas may be disrupted this week. We aim to deliver at least every other day in these areas, though this may not always be possible in offices temporarily affected by very high levels of absence. These offices are exceptions, and are listed below when appropriate.

No offices currently listed as exceptions.

Services in the Llanelli (SA14 to SA16) areas

We're sorry to report staff at our Llanelli delivery office (SA postcode area) plan to take Industrial Action today.
As a result, deliveries of mail are likely to be disrupted today, Wednesday 13 October in the SA14 to SA16 postcode areas.
The Customer Service Point at Llanelli delvery office is expected to open for the advertised opening hours - please see royalmail.com/services-near-you for details.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding. Normal service will resume on Thursday 14 October.

Our air services all operated to schedule over the last 24-hours.

Last night capacity issues at our North West Hub meant not all mail was able to travel on scheduled outbound services. As a result, some mail due for delivery today to addresses in other parts of the UK may arrive later than planned.

Last night a vehicle travelling from Tyneside Mail Centre to the National Distribution Centre arrived later than scheduled, due to juction closures on the M1. As a result, some mail posted in the DH, DL, NE, SR and TS postcode areas, due for delivery today in other parts of the UK may arrive later than anticipated.

Last night not all mail was able to travel on the scheduled outbound service from the National Distribution Centre to Birmingham, due to the vehicle reaching full capacity. Mail was forwarded on a later service. As a result, some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday, due for delivery today in the B, HR and WR postcode areas may arrive later than planned.

Whilst we’ll endeavour to work as normal during this period, ongoing and substantial disruption to deliveries and collections is expected and could be subject to change with little or no warning. Our Parcel Collect service will also be unavailable during this period.

Movement of mail through our network

Royal Mail operates an air, rail and road network to move letters and parcels between our distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices around the UK. Here we let you know about any significant issues in our logistics operation.

Air
Last night the flight from East Midlands to Aberdeen was diverted to Edinburgh following a techncial fault with the aircraft. As a result, some mail due for delivery today in parts of Northern Scotland is likely to arrive later than anticipated.

Rail
The train due to travel from the Scottish Distribution Centre to Warrington departed late yesterday afternoon due to flooding at Lockerbie and lines being closed. Unfortunately, mail on board missed connections with sheduled outbound services. As a result, some mail posted yesterday in parts of Scotland for delivery today in various parts of England may arrive later than expected.

Road
Our road services operated to schedule over the last 24-hours.

Mail Centres

The mail centres below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the last 24-hours, and as a result may be delivered slightly later than expected.

London Central Mail Centre: Some mail posted in the EC, N, W1v and WC postcode areas yesterday, for delivery today in other parts of the UK.
Manchester Mail Centre: Some mail posted in the BL, M, OL and SK postcode areas yesterday for delivery today in other parts of the UK.
Norwich Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK yesterday for delivery today in the NR postcode area.
South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas yesterday, for delivery today in other parts of the UK.

COP26 - Glasgow (31 October-12 November)

The COP26 climate conference is taking place in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November. During this time, access and service in the G1-5 postcode areas is likely to be affected.

Disruption to deliveries, collections and some other services is expected to be ongoing throughout this period, and could be subject to change with little or no warning. We will aim to work as normal, although this might not always be possible due to security restrictions and access around the event locations and surrounding areas.

Customers in the area have been informed of the potential disruption, and alternative arrangements have been made for them to receive mail if we’re unable to deliver. Please note: If we’ve not left a ‘Something for you card’ and you do not have alternative arrangements in place, your mail will not be available for collection. For up to date information about Customer Service Point opening times and where to drop off and collect mail please check royalmail.com/services-near-you.

The following Postboxes will be sealed for the duration of the event for security purposes:

SECC Box, Exhibition Way
Riverside Museum Box

It's likely other boxes will be closed at various times during the event. We'll detail these in a dedicated section of this page. You can find more information about restrictions and the affected areas at https://ukcop26.org/ Opens in new window .

We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We’re working hard to deliver as comprehensive a service as possible. To receive emails about any disruption in your area sign up to receive Service Alerts.
