It takes a while to get conditioned to the physical side, but if you are fit anyway, just look after your feet.Your main problem may be the succession of different rounds they put you on, as its tougher when you are not familiar with the round. Most posties will give you advice or point you to someone who can help. Its a funny job. One day you'll think its the best in the world, and another you will detest it and wonder why the hell you do it.
Listen, any postie with plenty of years in will tell you "its not like the good old days" but that is irrelevant to you.You only know what its like now, so go into it with an open mind, and you may just like it.Good luck.

Re: New postie questions
If that’s your experience, why not go and find something more interesting to do instead? Why remain in a job you despise?

Is that the result of a YouGov poll you are quoting, or just the result of you speaking to your fellow moan for England mates?Bounced_Czech wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024, 14:42It's 99% of delivery posties experience in this job now. If it wasn't for people like me RM would be finished within the week silly.
And again, if you despise the job so very much, why remain?

If the OP can walk 10K without issues &/or run a 5K Park Run they should have no issues, just expect parts of your body to ache which have never ached in the past.
Also get a decent pair of trainers and then the official RM trainers as soon as you can along with a few decent pairs of socks.
Also don't forget your sun tan location and a decent drinks bottle.
