ANGARD APPALLING COMPANY & PHONE STAFF

10 May 2019, 20:26

Having recently joined Angard after doing a few Christmas Casual jobs for Royal Mail, I am appalled at the staff of this company. I'm referring to the Northampton branch of Angard & the North West/Wolverhampton depot. I was told by a few people I know that'd been with them a year some stories & the attitude of the phone staff. But you really have to be on the other end to believe it & I have. They say 'wait for a text' but other people that started at the same time as me have had 2 or 3 whereas I have had none. Proving that the person giving out the shifts, is not doing it equally. He is also known to have his favourites. He'll tell people off for calling up asking for a shift but when one of his faves calls he'll book her in then ask her if she's booked anything for next week then book her 3 days the next week too. I phoned up he told me there was nothing & when I queried it as I was told there was all of a sudden he found me a shift that night & 2 for the next week.
He & the reception, I guess they are, also play silly buggers with the phones. They pick up & hang up or pick up & hold the phone & not speak just giggle for ages. I have been on the receiving end of a pick up then hang up but not the others.

There are plenty of stories of this behaviour. People have had to resort to calling from different numbers or withholding their number to get the guy/reception to answer. Appalling behaviour. They are obviously bored at what they do & are playing with people for some entertainment. Disgusting considering all people want to do is work. I felt I needed to come here & tell people about these instances after one was told to me today how they got through directly to this guy who does the shifts, asked if there was any available next week, he proceeded to pretend that he wasn't X, he was, then pretended to be putting the person through to X'. After a couple of pretend rings he said X said he's not booking any for next week you'll have to wait for a text' What a complete bellend. She then rang up from another number but he recognised her voice & said that she will have to wait for a text as he was prioritizing people who hadn't had a shift this week ( she'd had 2 which she had to blag because she wasn't getting texts ) but guess what, low & behold his favourites had called up & got some for next week cos she'd asked her if she'd had any luck.

Terrible individual to be playing games like that & lying about things.

This sounds like the dude I've spoken to - He is well-known for being difficult to deal with. He does block book in advance e.g. prior to Royal Mail placing orders for agency staff. I'm told he is not supposed to do this but he does

It makes his life easier and he just cancels people when he gets the actual order - this can be everybody for a particular shift or just selected people. Easter was a prime example of this with mass cancellations across all shifts

Pisses off Royal Mail managers as quite often it is first day starters rather than people who know the job.

As you expect they do lie when it comes to cancellations e.g. due to low workload we regret that your shift is cancelled ( this was a shift where managers said was literally the busiest shift they'd ever had)

I am one of the lucky ones as I do get regular shifts but with staffing changes at my mail centre I will probably be finishing within next couple of weeks - Angard is of course still recruiting while knowing the demand for shifts will drastically reduce

Are you at the same depot as Spielberg, paulus?

Don't normally ring Angard to try and get shifts, I wait for texts, know plenty who do though. On the few occasions I've rung them they've always been rude, cutting you off mid sentence to put you through to other people, not even bothering with a hello or a goodbye, etc. It's bang out of order really.

No different branch

I do think it is the same bloke however - many many people have had problems with him

Yeah, they tell you to wait for a text but I know people that've been with Angard for a year or more & they say the way to get shifts is to call.
I have had no texts yet whereas people that have started at the same time as me have had 3 or 4 texts & about 8 shifts. I was told to call by Angard friends & when I did I blagged a few shifts which he was reluctant to give me but had nothing since. You get rudely told to wait for a text but if I have never had one at all,I can do nothing but call. Dude has his favourites. But that story about him pretending he wasn't him & pretending to put them through to him with a couple of pretend rings then just saying 'Thomas says he's not booking for next week, wait for a text' has gotta be the most bizarre one yet. They think it's funny to play games with people that are just looking to work.
