EVRI customers have been warned of possible delays of up to 48 hours after a huge fire broke out at the parcel firm's warehouse in Avonmouth.
Drone pictures show the extent of the damage caused to the depot after the fire was extinguished yesterday afternoon (April 16).
A total of 40 firefighters attended the scene. Local residents were advised to shut all of their windows and doors due to the smoke, which was visible from the nearby M5.
A total of 16 Avon Fire and Rescue Service appliances were called to the warehouse in Boundary Road just before 1.30pm.
Avon and Somerset Police also attended to control traffic.
Evri said the fire had been put out by 4pm and confirmed no-one was injured and the majority of its parcels for the day were already out for delivery.
The company said its “main priority was ensuring colleagues were safe”.
A spokesperson said: “There were very few parcels at the site at the time with the vast majority of outbound deliveries having left the building.
“We have quickly made plans for alternative arrangements to minimise disruption to deliveries taking place over the next few days.”
Evri also issued a statement to customers via its app that said: “We're experiencing some slight disruption in Avonmouth today following a fire.
“Fire services attended a fire at our Avonmouth depot earlier today.
“All parcels scheduled for delivery today are out with our local couriers and alternative arrangements are in place to minimise disruption to future deliveries.
“There may be a delay of 24 to 48 hours on some parcels.”
The warehouse is located around seven miles from the centre of Bristol.
