Paying AVC's mean slightly different things depending on which scheme you're in.
If you're a member of the RMPP you can pay AVC's into Bonusplan and/or Flexiplan, which are designed to fund the tax free lump sum when taking your main scheme benefits(although there are other options). Unless you're in section F(ex RMDCP) which is basically the same as a DC pension.
Personally when I've altered my RMPP AVC payments I've always just written to the PSC and asked to change my weekly payments from £x to £y. But there are forums you can use in the library section of the RMPP website: https://www.royalmailpensionplan.co.uk/ ... ts/library
If you're in the RMDCP, the AVC's you pay just go into the same pot as your regular contributions.
