Tracked Scaning Rates

23 Apr 2017, 22:09

This notice was recently put up by our WAM and I was wondering if anyone else is having scanning rates imposed upon them. We scan oversized items separately from the the rest of the Tracked and this scanning rate does not apply to the oversized items. The manager was threatening to use the conduct code for those who do not scan the the required speed, but we have shown up the agreement on finge scanning rates.

When the figure scanning came in, part of the agreement was that the scanning rate would be around 500 items per hour. There would be coaching and counselling for someone if they were not achieving this scanning rate.
There is still no agreement nationally on what you are supposed to perform per hour. Tracked do certainly not have any agreement nationally about what is acceptable.
I would be asking your local rep and your area rep if they have agreed a rate with management locally, If they have then you need to be asking your reps why because it has not been agreed by the cwu at Hq.
Management cannot use conduct anyway as a first port of call. It always has to be coaching first and there are always variables with the ACF and a decent rep must argue this .

We have had management try to impose figures, but like previous post there is No Nationally Agreed Standard that has been negotiated.
Also we have pointed out Large Tracked and normal tracked in sleeve cannot be physically scanned at same rates. Another over zealous manager, no surprise there.
Finally our hours on Tracked also include porters who are Not Scanning or Sorting Tracked but included in work hours for Tracked. That used to be classed as Platform Work. Get Union Rep on the case and get them to inform CWU Area Rep.
