Isn't most of that done at North Midlands MC at Wolverhampton....

Think it also does most of the B, WV, WS, ST, SY, TF codes as well...

I thought North WEST Midlands Mail Centre at Wolverhampton did just WV, WS, ST and DY.
Does Shrewsbury MC do TF as well as SY ?

I stand corrected....

North West Mids MC DOES do WV, WS, ST & DY
Shrewsbury MC does SY, TF and I think another code as well?

Is Southend due to close this month, as our roads line manager hasn't been informed?

Heard from one of our drivers that CB is rumored to be going to Hemel....

Re: Current Mail Centres & Distribution Centres etc.

My understanding is CB to Peterborough and IP to Norwich. Hemel is too far away to take CB and couldn't cope with the traffic.

No chance of it going there - only if cancels having the 2 delivery offices moving in. This place is so tight for space and not very well thought out to take on more work.
We say its too small the managers say it is compact!!!!!!!!!

If Cambridge move it could be Peterborough as all the 2nd class go there now.

IP to Norwich - I cannot see that happening either. There is not enough space there. The road structure is not very good for Norfolk and Suffolk and the mail would spend more time in the back of a lorry than in the sorting offices.

I can still see CB & IP in a purpose built building with posibly Norwich in the mix too.

Norwich has just had 2 iLSMs installed so no changes with this MC. Watch this space....

Sorry to put this question in an existing thread, but didn't think it was worth a new one!

Do any of you guys know what a 'road' is in MC context? Is it an area that the item will be yorked to or something?
Thanks

Outward mail,be it packets letters, whatever are sorted on the "Primary" which is the first level of sortation. Then it is sent to "secondary sort" which is in geographic selections (Irish/Scots,home counties, southwest etc, etc).
In my MC we call these secondary sorting frames "roads".
I'm guessing this is what your'e refering to?

Ok, thanks for that. So what is this frame? It's not like in a Delivery Office, right? Also, does the same happen with items in priority locker?

So is a 'road' a york or is it a lorry? Would you be able to give me an example?

I also notice that on the audit tracking for ISF's, it says 'HWDC SIGNED FOR ROAD 3' (I think it's road 3 I can't remember exactly..)

Thanks

Anything with a YO postcode goes in the York york.

Ha Ha loungemaster :chuckle

Just a thought. What if (for some reason) RM had to consolidate every single york in their network into one place.. I know they fold, but imagine the space they would take up, they must have a damn large amount of them! I think they bought a million sacks the other year, wonder what the figures on yorks are.. :hmmmm

Edit: That must cause some confusion - put that in the York (as in destination York). :d'oh!
