A 65-YEAR-OLD woman has died after a road collision with another vehicle at the Meysey Hampton crossroads on the A417.

Pamela Daniels, of the village, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after sustaining life threatening injuries in a crash at around 4pm on July 1.

Sadly, she died a week later on Saturday (July 8).

In a statement, her family described her as a “much loved lady” and an “active member of the local community”.

Pamela was the post lady in the village for more than 10 years, as well as being a wife, mother and grandmother.

"Pamela was a much loved lady who had lived in the village of Meysey Hampton for over 20 years with her family,” it said in the statement.

"She was an active member of the local community having been a post lady in the village for 10 years and enjoying walking with the local walking group.

"Pamela was a keen gardener who really appreciated the beauty of the area she lived and through this she encouraged others to do the same.

"Pamela had lovely qualities, she was a kind and gentle person who was humble and private and she lived for her husband, sons and grandchildren.

"This has been a tragic loss for her family and the community who have lost a much loved mother, granny, wife, auntie, sister, neighbour and friend."

The family would like to be given time to come to terms with what has happened and ask that their privacy at this time is respected.

A male passenger who suffered chest injuries in the collision was also taken to Southmead Hospital but has since been discharged.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Officers are investigating and any witnesses who haven't already spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 339 of July 1.
