A POSTMAN has swapped his red uniform for an outfit of a different kind to raise money for his close friend’s funeral.
Mathew Shepherd, 26, did his Royal Mail round in Constantine Avenue and the surrounding streets in Tang Hall, dressed as Superman and wearing a ginger wig. He was paying tribute to Jordan ‘Ginge’ Johnson, who died after a road crash near an Army training centre at Strensall, York, earlier this month.
Mr Shepherd said: “A couple of people came out and praised the outfit and said ‘well done’ for what I’m doing.
“Jordan was a close friend of mine.
“He lived next door to my brother-in-law and used to stay at my house for two weeks at a time.”
Jordan’s funeral will take place at 11am on Friday at the cemetery chapel at York Cemetery in Cemetery Road.

"Employers are always seeking more productivity from workers, without considering the human factor, the worker's age, the weather conditions and the intense heat. We need to intervene before it's too late, reducing working hours and the load carried by workers, because it's impossible to sustain the rhythm they're forced to work at for many years."
