A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We have been engaging with Kent Police on this matter and are supporting their investigation.

“In the meantime, we are restoring the [37] affected postboxes to their original red.”

Royal Mail refused to disclose the cost of repainting the post boxes, some of which have been targeted again since being returned to their original colour.
So a few tins of paints, a couple of brushes, some thinners, masking tape, rags, and a week of someone's time.... probably budget about £200,000 maybe?

Why not just get "[33-year-old] Danny Whiskin, of Chaucer Way, Dartford" to repaint them at his cost plus £100 per box to a local charity and move on! The boxes are fixed, he gets a good slap for the each act, and a charity gets to do some good. Win x 3.

If Banksy did it then it would be deemed art and accepted, no arrest. Postboxes would be worth £2million each.

Exactly. The police are hypocrites. Who decides what is art and what is graffiti? Next time I see one of them daft hats on a postbox I'm calling the police. It's blatant vandalism and a scurge on the good name of Royal Mail.
