What a sad state if affairs.

Post by nim84 »

News like this upsets nearly of of us! A 500 Year Old historic institution, with the service and reputation in tatters. This business is on life support, and all because of the egos and greed of a select few. The board of directors have made possibly the worst decision in British history, when appointing team of executives with no knowledge of logistics, let alone postal logistics and the USO.

Bullying and harassment of the workforce, to the levels, we could never comprehend has resulted in chaos. As they say, two heads are better than one; try hundreds of thousands of loyal workers, with millions of years experience treated with contempt, that were not qualified. They were warned, yet they continued to make terrible decisions. One day we may find that children, cancer patients and over vulnerable people will may die because of the reckless decisions of a few at the top.

The people at the top are selfish, greedy and care for nothing else except lining their own pockets. All they've done is lie, cheat, blame everyone but themselves. They're corrupt beyond belief. Everything that is happening has been engineered, you can be sure of that. The people in charge have an agenda and they are happy to throw all and sundry under the bus, to ensure they get their own way.

"There are certain times of the year particularly, or where you've got resourcing issues like Christmas, where volumes double. And we can tell you that sometimes it's logistically necessary to move the parcels first. However, it should not be happening as a matter of course. What should not be happening is that sort of instruction," says Jenny Hall of Royal Mail.

The postal regulator, Ofcom, investigated the issue of parcel prioritisation last year. It said it had not found evidence of a "general organisation-wide policy directed by Royal Mail's senior management" of prioritising parcels over letters in "business-as-usual periods".
But it said it was concerned that there was "insufficient control, visibility and oversight" by senior management over the decision-making at delivery offices.

Why do Royal Mail continually blame resourcing issues at Christmas, when in fact, it's all year round as they save money by not adequately staffing offices?? :hmmmm

Last week we did not have any staff available on at least 3 duties in our section but we were told to make sure that the Tracked parcels are delivered and deliver what you can as regards the mail.... It's just not possible to expect staff to do 2 full duties of both mail and parcels when rounds have already been taken out of the office to make the existing ones even bigger.

As regards OfCom, they are not fit for purpose if they can't find any evidence that the company have been prioritising parcels over letters!! They obviously need to go to specsavers, that's if they have ever bothered to visit a delivery office in the first place.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Great thread. I am tired of hearing how the solution to addressing the terrible, humiliating service currently provided by Royal Mail, is to make the service officially worse. OK, mail going to a three day a week service might mean it could no longer be deemed unreliable, but if the standard for reliable is cut in half in terms of days, that's hardly a solution in anyone's interest except RM's.

It's like, well RM are rubbish, so let's set what we should expect of them much lower and all be happy with that. No, not an acceptable solution, and I say that as a letter sender and recipient, not particularly as a postie.

Panorama a pointless program,if they wanted the real truth instead of giving that royal mail boss the time of day lying through her teeth just like they all do why didn't they just go to 100 delivery offices and ask the posties if prioritising parcels over letters is a thing, typical poor investigations by the BBC,as for Dave Ward the bloke is a fraudster, that program was sickening to watch especially after the lying ,cheating post office scandal and here we are 20 years on and they are still at it,absolute shithousery.
