The MP for Corby has raised the crisis in postal services in Parliament
Lee Barron joined Royal Mail in 1986 as an apprentice postal worker and has given a public voice to postal workers ever since.
But in a Westminster Hall debate he said he has never seen delivery standards this bad. He said it was quicker to send a letter in a parcel than rely on a letter being delivered.
He said: “I’ve never seen postal services in such a crisis as they are today. The quickest way to get a letter delivered is if you put it inside a parcel because they’re prioritising parcels.
"Missed letters mean missed bills and missed appointments, especially affecting those who are vulnerable and in rural communities. I have heard from constituents in Oundle, Thrapston, Raunds, Stanwick and Corby, and from local postal workers.
“Postal workers want to deliver the service customers expect and serve their neighbours and communities, but arbitrary overtime bans are stopping them. Meanwhile, private firms cherry-pick the easy profits while undermining the Universal Service Obligation.
"We must ensure that when someone posts a letter in this country, it is delivered on time by a worker treated with dignity, under a service that puts people before profit.”
Lee is asking people to share their experiences of the postal service. To get in touch with him you can email lee.barron.mp@parliament.uk

Why didn't this MP speak up when OFCOM were in the process of agreeing RM's ODM as once that was agreed mail deliveries in the UK were ever going to be the same again?

Should parliament wish, it could easily reinstate RM's monopoly. It's far too late now, though. The damage has well and truly been done.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑Today, 12:20Meanwhile, private firms cherry-pick the easy profits while undermining the Universal Service Obligation.
Any Questions?
