Route Reviews

16 Feb 2019, 05:46

A lot of the drivers in a certain depot were moaning and whinging that their workload was too heavy and they could not do the work in the time they had.
On analysys of the scanner data it showed that some were genuinlly pushed,,but a lot were not,,so the management did a route review.
Most of the drivers are on an 11 hour duty..8 hours plus 3 Scheduled Attendance., but instead of working their official hours,,they would come in early,"to beat the traffic"..work through their breaks,,and get back to depot early to " beat the traffic,,and resulted in drivers being home in the house at 4 pm when their official time is between 5.30 and 6 pm finish time.
The result of the Route Review is that these drivers are now going to be doing more or less the same work,,because the scanner data doesn't lie,,and since they are returning to depot and LOGGING OFF ,they are having their SA adjusted downwards resulting ,in most cases.a financial loss of 500 quid a month,,so,,
moral of the story is,,do the job to spec,,start at your official time,,take your breaks,,do not speed,,do your vehicle checks,,and finish at your official time,,and if it means getting stuck in traffic,,so be it,,
also..some drivers have been "going the extra mile" and being Mr Nice Guy by delivering parcels on the way home,,one driver was spotted delivering a parcel on his way home to a customer who wasn't previously at home,,but needed it urgently,,
the driver was pulled over and shown the camera footage from the police officer,,and since he didn't have business insurance,,his car was lifted and he was subsequently prosecuted and fined, with the points on his licence added to his other points,,he was banned,,lost his job,,,is the job reallly worth this much stress?
DO THE JOB BY THE BOOK,
