A duty is a duty, there all the same and we all get paid the same wage. "I don't know the frame" isn't really an excuse when you have a walksorted tray.

I have this discussion regularly with the office rep.

That's rubbish. Yeah you can put in mech sequenced in any frame but someone who knows a duty is always gonna be a better use of resources than someone who doesn't. Thats a fact.

Putting someone on a duty they know is only an efficient use of resources if the business benefits in some way.

If all it means is that the postie goes home an hour early there are better ways of using him/her.

It's better to have 6 people who know the duty a bit than one who knows it a lot after all you're not asking a plumber to perform brain surgery.

Well you need to reduce HCT posties hours or give them more post as their job is too easy for a start. Paid 30mins to an hour for free at the end of their shifts.[/quote]

Would certainly agree with this in terms of our office. Longest hct round is 3 hours, with the shortest being 2.15 hours. We don't have any support refilling during the round so as mentioned above, theres a limited amount of post / parcels that can fit in the hct. Essentially meaning the parcel guy ends up taking shoe box sized parcels and covering the same ground as the hct. Incredibly inefficient!
