yes i have taken 60 and 65 pensions and reduced my working hours to 30 hours a week (due to ill health) i am 59 and as i am lucky to have finished paying a mortgage two years ago i have never had so much money to invest.my financial adviser actually said that a lot of pension schemes are on the brink of collapse so it was a no brainer for me and most of all THIS JOB IS FINISHED used to be a job you could say was for life but not anymore

You've taken a cut in your pension by taking them early, but yet your still working for royal mail???
Don't understand how you can be better off doing that? Calling Robert to explain.....

I can understand the shorter term benefit of going part time and taking your pension, and so get a similar or perhaps higher income for working less hours. Whether that's for health reasons or not.
But over the longer term, you'll be better off by taking your pensions at NRA.

A lot of pension schemes may be on the brink of collapse, but the RM scheme isn't one of them!
Our benefits up to 2012(the RMSPS) are backed by the government, and the RMPP which relates to our benefits from 2012 to 2018, is in surplus.

That's a bit blunt he may have moved on but he knows how the pensions work and for that we are great full for his answers to our questions.

Why does it matter that you find out why it matters
