What fun times ahead for us at the sharp end the culture of fear is alive and well I see, glad to see there making use of there busy day and just having a go at the time you get done, how about testingit from start to finish as it should be done, then see,see what we do and where we go,this one sided approach wearing a bit thin now,

How are they getting in trouble?

Can confirm but it's more devious than that. Posties are being pulled in and being told theyve failed test letters etc and not delivering mail but cant be suspended cuz theres "no proof". They're illegally using the data. Disgusting.

As per the agreement the PDA data isn't supposed to be used against individuals. Unfortunately it does appear that this will eventually happen if it hasn't already. I think DOMs are already realising this is going to happen.
The number one action every postie needs to do to defend themselves and their DOs is to ask their DOMs to order up PDA holsters for everyone. There are two different types - one is a shoulder type holster similar to the gun ones you see on the movies and the other one is a fabric box type affair that clips onto your belt/trousers. If you can have the PDA with you at all times then it will largely be on the move and will only be shown to be stationary when you are taking your breaks which you are entitled to. Otherwise if you were say on a rural and maybe did some small loops of several houses the PDA might be in the van and not moving. This gives RM ammunition to use against you. Another good reason to keep the PDA on your person at all times is to show how far you are walking to the delivery points. It may take longer for you to get to some letterboxes etc than RM realises. So if you can show that your walk is longer in it's entirety then that is a good thing for many reasons that are obvious. The current route planning system which is going to be replaced is utterly flawed and is based on incorrect data such as the routes of electricity & gas supply lines. If you have ever seen these routes on a monitor screen you will know what I am talking about. The PDA data can and will be used to fix this so make good use of this opportunity. If you can't get hold of a holster or don't like them then keep the PDA in a large pocket or a mail pouch maybe.

How does that give them ammunition? If the manager wants to know why it isn't moving, you can tell him it was in he van and the van wasn't moving. There are many reasons why it might not be moving. . red lights, junctions, opening farm gates, traffic, sheep, knocking on a door, talking to someone, doing a loop that has nothing that needs scanning..

Keeping it with you at all times gives them ammunition.

Another thing, where will they have the time to go through thousands of hours worth of data?

If it gets to this kind of situation then, to use the words the CWU have been choosing, it takes the emotion out of the conversation and just leaves the raw data to deal with. I don't know how the program will work but it might collate all the larger periods of time where the PDA is stationary and present that as something to deal with.
On the matter of keeping the PDA with you it is likely current route data will not have the final bits of walking up to doors on it. These small pieces of time, and remember RM higher up bosses are this petty & vindictive, could add up to serious amounts of time. It will enable offices to keep them at bay and provide additional information to say your office cannot give up more hours. It makes sense if you think about it. I know it's yet another thing to do but it is in our interest.

They don't need to go through thousands of hours. Everyone knows there is an agenda to get rid of full-timers wherever possible. If you're full-time and cutting of or claiming, you can bet that will be the only data they will be looking at.

Surely yous know your round in order to make it so that your finished just about your time. If not cut off or claim. Anybody coming back early needs talking too unless there walk is really small. C,mon it's not rocket science.

Another thing with pda actuals if you get back early and bring back tracked items without trying a neighbour they will know also I think the days of taking short cuts could be coming to an end because if you finish early on a regular basis you will end up with more work

I was told by our Dom that the main thing he's been told, is to look at all postie's who finish early and all the guys booking overtime , or cutting off.
