To all customers and journalists who slate the posties

Postby concerned » Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:32 pm

I know the moaning comments have died down since the strikes have stopped, but i would just like to say this
Since the snow has started, in some areas before Christmas and ever since
And the news is saying businesses are losing money as an estimated 44% are not going to work
And even here in London schools are closed as the teachers 'cant get into work'
I would just like people to note, that your postie is still (in the majority of areas) still delivering your post
On not that great a pay, starting earlier than most of us when the roads are even worse, they somehow are still getting to work. In London as i walked into work the other day, my postman was struggling to walk uphill with his trolley on ungritted pavements - yet the local schools are closed as it is too 'dangerous' for teachers to get in

I just hope members of the public remember seeing their postman out and about these past few weeks.
Thats all

Thanks Concerned - maybe people will understand now that we DO care about our customers and that it took something really serious to bring us out on strike - something that would affect them even more than us.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

I agree, the real irony of the customers that were slating us for going on strike is that they have/had no idea what RM was/is planning.
