Re: e.v.r agreement
I don't think there is a hard and fast rule on this. I stand to be corrected.
We've had people retire and not replaced, and duties re-cut to make a saving. Whether or not it's right is another matter. Even if it is wrong, the manager will try to get their way, it will affect their bonus after all.
What does happen loads, is FT staff retiring/leaving/transferring, being replaced with PT to save hours. So it is a similar type of thing, and the Rep doesn't stop it.

Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

Re: e.v.r agreement
You usually get evr if after a revision there are not enough duties to go round,as a rule you can't just have evr willy nilly then absorbe the duty.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: e.v.r agreement
if e.v.r is granted, the "duty" is lost with the person.
typically it is the senior/premium duties which disappear.
the only way round this, is for the duty holder to swap "duties" before they go.
for example, of it was a 4day week - tues, wed, thu, friday = it is this duty which is lost.
if however, there was a swap to say a duty of tuesday, wed, thurs, fri, sat = "agreed" before the event, then this would allow the cwu to argue to keep
the 4day tues, wed, thu, fri, duty.

Spot on ... I think legally the job must go for RM to give EVR although as you have said there is the option for bumping if a person whose job is going doesn't wish to leave.banddy wrote:if e.v.r is granted, the "duty" is lost with the person.

Having said that once you get into a Mail centre environment where jobs themselves are often not that well defined it can become purely a numbers game. The business has blatantly manipulated the process to give EVR to some managers who wish to go when quite clearly their jobs will not and nor will the jobs of those moved to cover. I think if a serious Audit of recent mail centre closures/mergers were undertaken there would be a lot of areas where RM has been treading on very thin ground in terms of EVR and the selection procedures for jobs.
