The Royal Mail worker has been suspended from driving duties after bosses watched the dash cam footage
A postman was caught on camera driving on the wrong side of the road, swerving road a turning truck and dodging a traffic island in a desperate bid to make deliveries on time.
The Royal Mail worker was spotted edging past stationary cars , and met a van turning right head-on before pulling up on the wrong side of the road about 50 yards later.
The postman has been suspended from driving duties after bosses watched the dash cam footage recorded in Palmers Green, north London, by another motorist.
Ross Malickis, who witnessed the incident, said there was 'no way' the postie could have known what was coming towards them.
Ross, 31, said: "It's ridiculous. Taking a massive risk like that when you're going to stop 50 yards down the road is just crazy.
"There's no way he could have known what was behind that oncoming van. No way.
"There's roadworks there at the minute so everyone else realised they would have to be patient, but not the Royal Mail apparently.
"When I saw him go round the traffic island and I was thinking 'oh my god, what the f**k' because there was still traffic coming towards him.
"There was a big lorry to our right which meant the gap was quite small anyway, and there could have been someone crossing there.
"To make things worse, another van was indicating to turn into the delivery area for the supermarket and then suddenly it was faced head-on with this postman.
"It seemed totally reckless behaviour for the sake of gaining a few yards."
Ross was on his was home from visiting some friends when he came across the impatient driver in Green Lanes at around 11.30am on Wednesday, May 10.
The van continued to drive down the wrong side of the road for about 50 yards before pulling over.
Ross said: "I get that he was obviously in a hurry but he only would have had to wait for about a minute to get there anyway.
"We're all busy, and I understand he has deliveries and deadlines to make, but it's no excuse. He's broken the rules.
"He didn't actually get out of the van. He just parked up and sat there for a few minutes. I know because I was still in the queuing traffic.
"He was enough blocking the road for everyone else. It was impatient and unprofessional
"I've sent Royal Mail the footage and they are looking into it."
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We take our road safety responsibilities very seriously and while we investigate this matter the postman is not currently undertaking driving duties."
