Sorry Links, but that's just a meaningless rant about God-knows what, and what monthly pay has to do with any of that is beyond me.

1% interest on 180,000 pay slips of £400 pw. adds up to a nice fat wad of £2,880,000 bonus a month. Me ,I'd look for 5x that rate ,but whatever I think I could live on it. Need I say more :chuckle

And there is the problem son! Look at your fellow worker and how things affects them and you will see the true cost we all pay and it aint as small as you make out! The old saying look after your pennies and the pounds look after themselves is a lesson the Idle and their FAMILIERS learnt long ago but we still havent quite yet but we are getting there and when we do, then what are you lot gonna do? lol.
Sadly, that's just more of the same, although whoever "my lot" and FAMILIERS are is anyone's guess. Do you actually have a coherent argument against monthly pay, or is it just "rambling" to disguise the fact that you don't?

How about just liking weekly pay?My wife is a ward sister and get's paid monthly. We arrange our bill's such as the mortgage etc. to be paid in the week following her pay day. With me being paid weekly, bill's such as shopping and day to day expenses can come out of it.Any left can then be saved. We like it this way and so yes I would expect a payment to change the way I budget.
What is wrong with that mr. post office?
Slider tool. Lol.

Nothing at all, Mr Postie. A sensible point of view with no made up words or ranting, although you didn't follow Lunk's point about monthly pay costing money though, and that's what I was answering....

do you understand what monthly pay will mean?
or rather the transition to monthly pay?

i havent a problem at all but it would cause too many problems for people imo.

you would have to be subbed 2 weeks wages minimum for the first month ..maybe more if you are on a tight budget..........there is no way we will be going monthly imo

If it's so simple and painless why have the union resisted it for so long?

That is a good question - when I came here it had been quite a number of years since I had been paid weekly and I was quite surprised that not only was it weekly pay but the very week that I started.

TBH I don't really see what the problem is myself because I was used to being paid monthly, my wife is paid monthly and all of our bills are direct debits.

People seem to be unduly afraid of monthly pay and I can see the problem of overtime but that should not be a part of any budgeting because it is not regular income. If the deal is good enough, and I don't know what that deal would be, and if there was a safety net for say 6 months until those not used to it got used to it whereby there was a hardship fund - repayable of course - then I think people would be more willing to embrace it.

Monthly pay was part of phase 4, therefore CWU have a obligation to disscuss with RML and report back and if they have recahed agreement on monthly pay to put it to a vote. Putting monthly pay to a vote is CWU policy and I would hope it could be seperate to everything else thats going on.

Phase 4 if I recall talked of new national agreements rather than agrement :hmmmm

How can one trust an employer who will question every second of your time as well as demand that you can forsee any eventuality while they cannot plan on a day to day basis never mind the huge rise in home shopping!.

For them? to cut even more CWU JOBS? FFS and to think these people call themselves Trade Unionists! Every action has a reaction and people will lose their jobs and livelyhoods and we say never mind i can survive! We as a Union should be fighting for EVERY JOB and yet many dont seem to care as long it aint them! Thats the tmans way and your welcome to it! By the time some have sold out all the jobs around em there will be FA left for when we have to take EVR or are unfairly sacked ect, still if it aint much of a problem to you, then alls well. Me i will stand and try to fight for every job as best i can and this is just another cut so they get more and we get less. Upto to the conscience i spose?

The simplistic answer is that we could if Royal Mail brought in clocking in machines live every other company in the country but we know they won`t do this for 2 reasons imho.

1) They won`t spend the money.........maybe because it would cut into theirs and managers bonuses

2) They didn`t want or don`t want to upset the workforce by making it compulsory to return to the office in all areas as this would upset all the goodwill overtime they get from certain individuals and everyone would work more towards doing the job properly, less overtime either on the day or working days off.
For a company so keen on Modernisation, why don't we have clocking in machines? We all have id cards with photos and bar codes, so it would be obvious to use them, ( Mc Donald's had electronic clock-in machines when I worked there nearly 20 years ago ) and each office could keep a spare set of 20 or 30 for any temp / new workers to use till they get their photo ids.....also, in the event of a fire or similar emergency at the office, it should be easy for mgmt to check who is inside the building and who the emergency services might need to search for!
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
